Re: One night in STT
"the Rock" reference may be due to Kenny Chesney's newest project "Life On A Rock". All the songs have some tie to St. John and/or USVI.

Re: Family Trip to Cinnamon Bay!
The most accurate cruise ship schedule I've found is located here: http://www.ships.vi/. Knowing the schedule is good: shop on St. Thomas when ships are in; visit Trunk Bay when ships are not in.

Re: Reef Bay Hike
Getting down and back is pretty simple - as other's have noted. My advice is to hike early, so that on the way back it's still cool. Heat + grade was the issue for us.

Very nice! What camera did you use? The images are so clear and full of color. At what depth were you?

Re: Day trip to Jost by ferry with expiring passport
This is enforced, since you will have left the US and will be re-entering. What's enforced is having passports or the correct number of other proper documents. Charter captains usually won't allow persons board without the required documents, since those folks won't be able to return. The only excep...

Re: Purchasing a beach chair on St. John
I'm not 100% sure, but you could try K-mart, Cost-U-Less or Pueblo on STT. You might also want to consider checking one of those folding chairs that are stored in a drawstring top bag with a shoulder strap. Lastly, it might be worth a call to the gals at Island Baby on STJ [ http://www.islandbabyvi....

Re: Newbie to St John. 64 days and counting!
1. If you're coming on the car barge, get your food on St. Thomas. K-mart, Pueblo and Food Center are good places. 2. I agree with Teresa - haul them. 3. Like Teresa said - credit card and cash. No travelers checks. 4. I like http://www.ships.vi/ for cruise ship schedules. This site appears more cur...

Re: 7 Passenger Rental Cars
We've done the mini-van "thing" before with good success carting 7 adults. There was even space behind the 3rd row seat for coolers and beach chairs. It not being 4WD was not an issue. I don't recall who on STJ may still be renting these vehicles.

Re: Renting villa close to travel dates?
Several villas offer "last minute" deals to fill up their calendar. As mentioned in other posts, jeep rentals may be an issue. Air fares are almost always the highest for "last minute" trips to the USVI.

Re: Route to Skyflower on Bordeaux Mountain?
I'd try and avoid Bordeaux from Coral Bay at night, if you can. It's pretty steep in places. Under the cover of darkness may not be the best way to experience this! Why not ask who you rented the villa from to guide you. I don't know any rental agency that doesn't provide this as a no-cost service. ...

We like Turtle Bay Estate House and Caneel Beach Terrace. But especially the Sugar Mill. All are at Caneel Bay resort.

Re: St. John newbie groceries question
Good morning. If you're planning on eating out frequently, then checking groceries may not be the best choice. When we go for 2 weeks, we check a cooler with frozen meats and usually one suitcase with non-perishables - for 4 adults and one child. We usually purchase fresh produce, bread, dairy, liqu...
