I would also recommend Drakes Lookout. I just looked up price which is $3450, not sure how definite your budget is. My family stayed there a couple of years ago and found it to be beautiful, great views, comfortable and private from surrounding homes. (I am not an owner )

I can not say anything about car rental on STT because we always rent on STJ.
We have rented a boat several times from Ocean Runners and have always have never had a problem.
