Re: Your best St. John packing tip?
I've had great luck with baby powder. I just sprinkle it on, it soaks up the moisture so the sand isn't sticky, then brush it right off with my hands. I does leave me with white feet though. Maybe when the current bottle is empty I'll try refilling it with cornstarch.

Re: Your best St. John packing tip?
Yet another vote for ziplocks - an essential packing item. My parasheet is a must. Bug spray wipes - easy for throwing in the small purse when we go into town at night for dinner and/or drinks small bottle of baby powder for getting the sand off. My clothes get packed in a packing cube and take up v...

charter for a group of 8
Our group for April has grown from 6 to 9. We managed to secure another nearby villa, and get tickets on the same flight as the original 6 had already booked. I am in touch with Dohm's to set up land and water taxi and the cars are reserved. My only remaining "open" item is our BVI day tri...

While it certainly can be done cheaper - if you can swing the cost, Captain John is definitely worth the money. The ability to set your own time frame and agenda is near priceless, IMO

Re: 2014 VIOL Ornament Gift Swap
Definitely not legal. The ornament I made last year had sand and small shells in it, but I didn't use ones actually from Maho - I bought them at the craft store.

Re: 2014 VIOL Ornament Gift Swap
The ornament I sent last year was one I crafted myself (but it wasn't super homemade looking - I was actually very proud of it) using a photo from Maho. The ornament I received did not come from St John, although it's "vibe" was the sort of thing one would expect to find on St John and I l...

Re: Get Your MD to Prescribe a Trip to STJ
I lost 6 lbs on vacation last month. I always lose around that much after a week on St John. I just need to go once a month for about a year and I'll be right at my target weight. My insurance should cover that, right?

Down to only one ticker now, but hopefully not for long.
Only been back a couple weeks and already can't wait for the next one.

Re: shop online starfish mkt?
So you picked your order up once you arrived? How long did it take, did you just go in and say "I'm picking up my online order?"

Re: shop online starfish mkt?
I do find the idea of having my groceries all packed up and ready to be picked up once we get on island quite appealing. I wish someone who had tried the service out for that purpose could give some feedback. I'm wondering if the prices are the same as if you actually did the shopping yourself?
