Re: Tree House - Mamey Peak
Unfortunately, the online calendar had not been updated and we found out today that the property is not available for our August trip - so the villa search is back on. Makes me sad, I was looking forward to trying out this location, as it would be a new one for us.

Tree House - Mamey Peak
Getting ready to chose the villa for our summer trip. Thinking of mixing it up this time and not staying on the sunrise side. The summer trip is with my boys, and they are not early risers, so the beauty of the sunrise is lost on them. They are pulling for Tree House on Mamey Peak - http://www.vrbo....

Re: GoPro Users - Questions
Using it underwater in St John there are 2 "must have" items for me. 1. Anti fog inserts - otherwise you will get very frustrated. 2. Wrist mount - this thing is great - it holds the camera steady on your wrist so you can just put your arm up and click the button, no need for holding the c...

Yep... I teared up a bit right there.PaminMaine wrote: - That feeling of being " home " and the relaxed emotional state that it brings.
Turtle whisperer here as well. That's why Maho is always our first beach - I'm not really officially on island until I've been swimming with my first turtle.

Sipping kiss of the jumbie coffee while watching the sunrise over Coral Bay. Swimming with the turtles at Maho. Sitting on the log at Drunk Bay and "centering" myself. Those are my big three.

Re: Best off season month to visit?
Our April trip is always the 1st Tuesday after low season starts on the 15th. Low season prices, but still cold enough up here in the frozen north to make it wonderful. We always fly on Tuesdays because that's when we get the best airfare deals. The island is moderately busy, but nothing like when w...

Re: Arrival rituals
First stop as soon as we exit the ferry is St John Spice for Kiss of the Jumbie coffee. From there, we head to Sutton's to pick up the rental vehicle(s). Next stop is Starfish market for the week's groceries, and usually a rotisserie chicken for that night's dinner. After arriving at the villa and d...

I'm assuming you're talking low season? If so, Satinwood fits most of your requirements. No AC, but we never needed it up that high with tradewinds pretty constant. We really enjoyed this house - out of all the places I've stayed, this is the one I would go back to. http://www.cimmaronstjohn.com/vac...

Re: How about Haulover North?
If you can get there on a calm day, Haulover North is - in my opinion - the best snorkeling on St John. The entry and exit can be a little challenging, but it's very worth it.

I'm with ERL - love Baked in the Sun. If you exit the roundabout on the first road clockwise after the exit that turns into Centerline it's down just a few buildings on the left. There lemon bars are my favorite and the sandwiches are really good as well.

Connections will hold your bags for a small charge if you choose to hang out in Cruz Bay. That's what we do, and enjoy some last minute eating and shopping before taking the walk of woe to the ferry.

Re: Just checking my ticker
Mine is not as nice as yours, but it's getting there. Had a planning meeting tonight with our group of 9 and drank painkillers so I'm ready for a ticker check now ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

If you have time to have a meal or drinks at Cruz Bay landing before you head to the BVIs, you can practice your ring game skills on the mini versions they have there that you can play while sitting at your table ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: Must try restaurants???
Aqua Bistro continues to be my all time favorite. We tried Sweet Plantains for the first time last April and loved it. In Cruz Bay, I like De Coal Pot and Sogos for local flavor. Rhumblines is excellent. Love the apps and desserts at The Fatty Crab, and it's hard to beat Asolare at sunset for a fanc...

I love the ring game - it's must when you're at Soggy. Also, the people watching there is excellent. Definitely stroll down the beach and check out the other places too!
