Villa Catalina

I stayed in Villa Catalina in 2005, and it was comfortable (but I'd use Sailorgirl's review over mine since she was there more recently), but I would choose the Maria Bluff location of Serenity. The view from Villa Catalina was great, but I prefer to be closer to the water, even right on it if possi...

It's the market

I think that the owners probably work with the management companies to set a market rate. If Dreamcatcher had significant repairs/updates/maintenance done, it may now be in a different "peer group" of comparable villas, and the rental rate has been raised accordingly so that it is equivale...

Old Man, we stayed in Gallows 3D as well--I think it was the perfect location, sort of out on a point, with water all around and great views to St. Thomas. We stayed several years ago, so I don't know about the condition of the furnishings etc. now, but it was great when we were there.

Here is a link to a previous thread on toddler travel with lots of good info. I recommend getting a cheap stroller (the $15 Kolcraft from Toys R Us), it was good for putting our 18 month old in while waiting for planes at the airport, walking around in Cruz Bay, and having her restrained when near t...

Gallows vs. Caneel

I second the recommendation for Gallows Point. Great location, within easy walking distance of all the restaurants in Cruz Bay. It's nice when it's just two of you to be able to go out and have a glass of wine, beer, etc. without worrying about driving home on the (wrong) side of the (dark, narrow, ...

Can't give you any info on the inside of the house, but the location is great, and the outside looked nice when we drove by 2 years ago. Someone posted inside pictures of the villa on a recent (3-4 weeks ago) thread of "post your pictures" of villas.

Reaching Destination St. John via email?

Has anyone had trouble reaching Destination St. John on email lately? I've sent a couple to info@destinationstjohn.com and haven't gotten a response. I'll call, but prefer to correspond via email since I never get a chance to call during business hours.

Thanks

Question about Dreamcatcher villa--good for little kids

For anyone who's stayed at Dreamcatcher, I'm looking for a villa with 3 bedrooms suitable for 2 couples with toddlers. We're looking for a house with 3-4 bedrooms where all bedrooms are under the same roof where you don't have to get to them using outside entry (i.e. no pods). Dreamcatcher says all ...

Question about Dreamcatcher villa

Snorkelqueen, are all three bedrooms at Dreamcatcher on the same level? We are looking for a house that will accomodate two couples with small children, so want all the bedrooms near each other on the same level (or at least interior staircases), and not in separate pods or accessible only by outdoo...

Good idea

Great idea, kind of like the real traveler's photos section on TripAdvisor. Anthony, can there be a section in villa reviews linking to the photos?

We took my 18 month old a few years ago and she had a great time. We took two beach umbrellas (checked luggage on United), and they were great to have for the shade. The little tents get too hot, so the umbrellas work much better. To protect her from sun, just put her in a Tshirt over the bathing su...
