We did it and the sun did shine and the sunset was beatiful
Hello all - I just wanted to thank everyone here that sent us good wishes for yesterday and gave a little extra hope for sunshine. We got it and the sunset on Trunk Bay was beautiful and the wedding ceremony as perfect as anyone could ask for. The noseeums had a feast, but we didn't care. Thank you ...

Thanks all - and CariBert - yes we are in Serenity. It was beautiful here Sun and Mon, though hot, but yesterday was a bit of a wash out and today, hard to tell. Thanks to all for your good wishes and here's hoping that burn off does happen. I'll be on the north side of the island and I know yesterd...

Where's the sun -need everyone to cross fingers for burn off
Sunny and beautiful on the day we arrived and for two days after, but today, ever so cloudy. Finally got my trade winds, but at what cost? Could use a little help hoping some sun will appear later today, perhaps around sunset. Getting married in the rain isn't so bad, but it ruins all the images we ...

In my experience those great breezes advertised by villas are their way of saying that they don't have air conditioning. I don't know if that is true of your villa but that is usually the case :) We've been 8 times and always needed a/c, at least at night for sleeping. We do always go in the summer...

Thanks Nic - yeah, the bugs are pretty heavy, so I believe the situation you're mentioning is what we're dealing with. Ahh well, looks like bug spray will be taken out of the plastic and be on in abundance for the next week. :) Good to know about the water - guess we'll have to spend more time in th...

Thanks LiamsAunt - and for the heads up about the neighbors seeing into our pool - though we're not much for nude bathing :), so all is good. Swimming at night sounds good, but how did you avoid getting eaten alive by the mosquitos. My poor fiance had residual sunscreen on him last night and he woke...

Two Days in and wondering where are those great breezes?
so two days in. It is truly peaceful here in St. John and just starting to understand island time. :). Arrival day was just a whirlwind (a hot one at that), but we finally settled in and grabbed one of the tastiest pizzas we've had from Cafe Roma and just chilled in the airconditioning. Yesterday wa...

Sigh, well as long as they maybe leave me alone the day of the ceremony, i'll be applying some bug spray, but have to be careful of dress i guess i can live with the rest. Have about 6 different sprays. Off Soft and Dry with Deet, Avon skin so soft without deet, cutter without deet, cutter with deet...

Oh, please, please, just want sunshine on May 25th
Yes, please get all the bad weather out of the way now and have it be nice the week of the 22nd. I'm praying to the weather gods for sunshine on May 25th. We're doing our ceremony on the beach and oh, sunshine, sunset, oh....need that. Not in love with all the rain now, as know that means many more ...

Fingers crossed not a lot of rain in St. John...I'm s...

Thanks all. Good tips. I'd prefer to bring the food on the plane, BUT, Think we're going to check it because between two garment bags that we don't want to risk checking and a laptop the carry-ons are sort of filled. Thanks for the tips on the best ice packs and coolers. And Barb Y - 18 from Rochest...

Ice packs for coolers
Hi all, So our trip is getting super close. Yay! And we're planning to check a soft sided cooler and wondering if anyone has tips on the best icepacks. There seem to be so many - ideally we'd packs that would allow s to keep stuff frozen the whole trip (we're traveling all the way from Rochester, NY...

Bazile (last name) - private taxi - anyone know him?
Saw some people post on here about Rachel - taxi driver. Our villa manager recommended Bazile (his last name, forgetting his first name off the top of my head, something with a D) - when we called he was really nice, actually knew which flight we were coming in on, as apparently he was picking up ot...
