Phew!! Church cookie sale done for another year - 6 trays with sugar cookies, nut bars, cran-crackel, choc mint chips, starlight mint, mocha ribbons, molasses cookie (the really soft chewy kind - yum!), Sicilian cookies, peanut butter sandwich cookies and biscotti. I ran out of time for the raspberr...

CG - I'm glad that you liked freezing the cookie dough. Please let Minde know if you notice anything different with your cookies after they have been frozen - you can be my unbiased judge. Salted Nut Bars....I need to figure a way to hide them from myself! They ARE addicting and that's why an acquai...

Pegoode - Did they finish the repairs at Vistaero? We were there the first part of November and the hot tub was not working. We were told for 9 days that a part was on order. The flashing around the chimney needed replacing and water ran down the walls in the two bedrooms (upper and lower floor) on ...

Ah man! I may have figured out how to freeze cookie dough but keeping the cookies in my car might save me from having to make a gazillion of them! As Homer Simpson says....DOH!!! Hahahaha!!

Minde - You can do without the walnut halves. I don't do them either. The recipe originated in the 50's so that was probably what was popular at the time. The nut flavor goes just fine with mint, but I think it makes the cookies taste too much like chocolate chip. I usually decorate with chocolate j...

Linne - It's a reference to a children's book by Dr Seuss called "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas." He's a fictional character who tries to take all the joy out of Christmas by stealing all of the gifts, decorations, etc. If you do an internet search by the book title you should be able to ...

Why not have your 60 people over and have each one bring a canned item for the local food bank? You can also make the donation in memory of your father and daughter's fiance so that their memories are honored. Heifer International is another cool way to gift. You buy some chickens, rabbits, goats or...

Minde - I've seen recipes that tell you to do it after baking like you do so don't feel like you've been wrong! You can do it either way. I just find that doing it before baking makes the shape turn out better with less cracking. I also do the thumbprint and then freeze mine. I just take them out fo...

Agent 99 - They did that to us last year...or at least tried to. I booked tickets for 7 people in January to fly direct from Boston. We live in Connecticut so we were going to drive to take advantage of a direct flight. They not only cancelled our direct flight, but then tried to get us to fly from ...

Minde - I make the thumbprint before I bake too. I also use something a little smaller than my thumb because I have big thumbs that smash the whole cookie. I've found that the end of an OXO corn-on-the-cob holder is just the right size. (OXO makes all the kitchen tools with the black handles.) I hol...

That looks very similar. I haven't made them for years so I might be mistaken about the Karo syrup.
Thanks for the recipe!

Minde - Oh well, there's always next year. It does work out extremely well for me to freeze the cookie doughs ahead of time. Maybe CG will give it a try and report on her success. The cracker-toffee cookies that you make....are those the ones with the Karo syrup mixture and grape nuts on top? Or som...

Minde - I baked up my first round of frozen doughs and everything turned out great. I had people at the Christmas party waiting to pounce on the Salted Nut bars. I made a new recipe this year that has the same sort of sweet/salty flavor with dried cranberries and white chocolate chips on a pretzel c...
