For a fly fisherman on St. John, Bonefish is by far the game fish you want to go after. Just google Bonefish on St. John and there are some guides available on the island.

There was plenty of activity mid day when I visited in July. Mariel Bass was doing a demo, the potters were removing work from the kilm and a tile worker was working on a new bar top made out of glass tiles. My suggestion call ahead and check, maybe sign up for a class.

Best info I can find is on hiking is the Trail bandidt website - not sure if this is same infamous bandit on this forum if it is sorry! Hope not becasue his map is invaluable to hikers on St. John. mbw1024 It is at Maho Campground, by Maho Beach. Taxis can drop you off right at the camp or for more adventure take the goat trail up from Maho beach.
