Go to OBX but do get trip insurance if you are going in Aug/Sept. We went last Aug right after Irene. Nags Head and really enjoyed it. If you like huge McMansions then Corolla is for you. It wasn't for us. If you like a more rustic feel look at Nags Head etc or Hatteras, which I can't tell you about...

We stayed in Chincoteague for two nights over Labor Day weekend on the way back from the Outer Banks. It's a quaint town and an easy drive over to the National Seashore. You can stay on the water but not at the beach. We stayed at the Hampton Inn near town but on the bay. The National Seashore has a...

Avistar n/k/a The Parking Spot. Look for coupons when you print your boarding pass, Parking Spot has coupons on its website and if all else fails they'll give you a AAA discount.

Child's passport

While you may not need a passport for your child for a St. John trip, you may want to renew anyway. Yes, they are only good for 5 years but renewing is a big hassle and time consumming. Not something you want to wait to do at the last minute. You will need your child's birth certificate (not a copy)...

We used them for three visits and never had a problem. They were always at the dock for pick up and drop off. The jeeps were clean and reliable. They were also very prompt in responding to emails for confirmations etc. If we ever get back, I'd use them again.

If the fare is reasonable and the flight is convenient for you, you shouldn't worry about flying AA. As Rick G pointed out they are going through the same restructuring that Delta, Continental, UAL etc all went through and those airlines are still flying the not so friendly skies.... One of AA's goa...

Re - credit cards. Plan to call your card company before you go down. Credit card companies are quick to deny charges if they are outside your normal spending area. Also bring a second card in case you misplace, lose or have a problem with the first. More details in my trip report which I hope to po...

We have always rented our car on STJ and would recommend L&L Jeep Rental. Make sure you get a Jeep or similar car with 4WD. Many of the rentals on STT turn out to be regular cars which can be tricky on the hills in STJ. Advantage on renting on STJ, is if you have car trouble the folks you are de...

Delta added service this past winter direct JFK/STT and we used them last month as we got a really good fair versus AA. Sorry we did. We were over two hours late leaving JFK on the trip down due to high wind conditions and the runway construction at JFK. I was monitoring the return flights just befo...

Don't the wranglers have removable tops and soft sides - if I have the correct, I'd go for the Liberty. It will be much safer. You should have no problem with the car seat in the back.

We have used L&L twice and have a reservation with them again for this March. They have always met us promptly at the ferry and jeeps have been clean and in good shape. Reservation process is easy as well. They don't have in town parking like Conrad Sutton but we don't spend a lot of time in Cru...

They may already be booked for this week but try Long Distance http://stjohnlinks.com/Charters/Long_Distance/Index.htm, a 40 foot sailboat that leaves from Coral Bay (sorry) and hits snorkel spots not accessible by car and small islands nearby. We went with Rick and Robin last March for the day and ...
