Thanks Hugo, I find it all very interesting. Good thing we tend to do the same hikes every time we visit. Guess I'll stick with my tried and true routes, and my official NPS/Trails Illustrated map. We've run in to some rogue mountain bike trail building here in the west, where the risk is a fine of ...

Pia, thought you said they were not using clippers or machete's? If Hugo's story is the same incident. That certainly adds some clarity to the story. It's one thing to follow a seldom used/overgrown trail. But when you are packing machete's and chopping your way through it's another. Hiking vs Hacki...

Just for an experiment. I overlayed the Trail Bandit Map with the official NPS map I downloaded. There are certain trails that they don't recognize. NPS has 20 official, where he has 29-30?

Maybe that's why they call him the trail "Bandit"

Yes, all the photos were taken with the dicapac. Also used it in Hawaii as well. Like I said, it's not ideal, it's a little more work, best to practice shooting photos with it before you are in the water. I didn't want to invest in yet another camera specifically for underwater use, so it served it'...

have no idea of the current current conditions, sorry couldn't resist, but ran into similar conditions on our last trip. NS beaches were under High surf advisories, but the SS beaches were like GLASS. Salt pond, lameshure, etc. If in doubt, don't go out.

I've used a drybag type case (dikapac) that worked surprisingly well. It's certainly not ideal, but can get some good results. Might be something to consider. Camera is a Panasonic lumix.

Was surprised to see a couple of safari trucks dropping off snorkellers at waterlemon (as we were leaving, luckily) on our trip last year. Trunk/NS beaches were closed due to High Surf. Didn't think they ran cruisers down that far?

Recipe we do all the time is this: Poke holes (10-20) in a lemon (depending on size - 2 small work), stuff in the cavity with Rosemary or sage (whatever you like). Seal the cavity up with butcher twine, bamboo skewers work too for skin flaps. Roast it Breast Side down on a rack in your pan, for the ...

Doesn't exist. Turn off the labeling on google maps and you can see that it looks like more of a remnant of a trail, than a road you could drive on.

The national park map shows the route as the bordeaux mountain trail.

Both are great, but Trunk is a must do, Our last trip we managed to hit it twice, Once when the high surf had the snorkelling closed and no fee was charged, no one was there, and the second time was after the sun left Jumbie, we hopped over and it was fabulous. Early or late to avoid the cruise crow...

Don't always go by what flikr says can be done. A local print or framing shop might be able to work some magic and make your print work in a larger size. Most large format print/poster printers use a larger dot size, so you can blow things up with a minimal image quality loss. There is also a softwa...

We had some high surf advisories out on the NS beaches during our last trip, no snorkelling, but the SS beaches were calm. By mid week the NS had calmed down and was snorkelable (is that a word?) again. It seemed to clear up pretty quickly once it was calm. After a storm event like earl, i have no i...
