It seems my friend has been reading/hearing that it was a cement truck, but it was a water truck. His last comment: "We didn't stay around for a cement truck to come down the hill."

Glad to see he has a sense of humor about it all!!

When asked if the passengers had jumped out of the truck, he said:

"Not sure when they jumped but they were all by the truck when it hit the road below. Cab was crushed and little girl had only scratches. Truck blocked the road for hours. Pretty sure they [rode] it through the house."

More details on truck vs. villa

I've been in touch with my friend whose rental villa was hit by the cement truck. The villa is Beija Flor . Here is what he said: "[The truck] drove straight through the turn and straight down the hill. Watched it happen from the entry way... Screaming girl turned out to be a little girl in the...

I just found out about the truck incident today. My friend and his family were checking in -- didn't say what villa it was -- when the truck (he said it was a water truck) missed the turn and took out one side of the villa. He texted me photos of the one of the bathrooms, totally destroyed; he also...

My husband and I and another couple (we travel together every winter, have done STJ twice) visited Anguilla in January 2010, renting a villa on the East End above Shoal Bay Beach. We experienced the same heavy winds and high seas that the OP did and, unfortunately, it ruined much of our 10-day vacat...

We (two adult couples) stayed at Oleander Villa in Jan. 2009, it was perfect for two couples. Two equal bedroom suites in a separate pod from the kitchen/living area. Small pool, wonderful views, very private; Klein Bay area, 10 minute drive to Cruz Bay. Sister villa Orchid is next door, same layout...

Thank you all for your replies! The answer was received this morning in the form of on-line check in. I was a bit surprised that I could check in to an international flight on-line, but seems I can, at least on American. Checked us in all the way to St. Kitts, with a reminder to arrive at least two ...

you may want to double check with the airline that you don't have to gather your bags and re-check in miami--just to be on the safe side.... Good point...I think everyone does that on the way home if you're stopping somewhere, right? It's great fun, especially when your flight into ATL was seriousl...

Very good point. I agree that we should plan to check in 2 hours ahead.

Is this a domestic or international flight?

(Although this is not for a trip to St. John, I know I'd get a faster answer from this forum!) We have a flight from LGA (New York) to SKB (St. Kitts) with a plane change in MIA. When deciding what time we need to be at LGA for check-in, is this considered a domestic or international flight? My hus...

My snorkel-addicted friend bought a neoprene vest while we were in Anguilla last year. She has yet to use it but it certainly looks like it would keep you warm while leaving your arms free. A rash guard underneath would work, too! http://www.houseofscuba.com/vests-hooded-vests/vest5.html My husband ...
