I love this thread. Jigzmom, your history sounds similar to ours.... now I'm anxious to hear after 4 or 5 trips to STJ if your hubby gets that "in a rut" feeling and the wanderlust comes back. Sometime I'll have to PM you and get your input on those other islands. In my opinion, the "...

No guilt

We made our first trip to STJ in 1994, on recommendation of a friend and a serendipitous(sp?) ad for a house to rent in our local paper. One visit. I was hooked. Hubby enjoyed it, but didn't have quite the same "passion" for it that I had. We love to travel, and in our 35 years of marriage...

St. Maarten comments

For those of us who love the laid back, unspoiled beauty of St. John.... it's difficult to go anywhere else. That said, we decided we were in a rut (after 4 trips), and joined a timeshare travel club... to broaden our horizons a bit. In March, we spent a week in St. Maarten, at Pelican Key. (Our fir...

Tried Chicago

Thanks waterguy... (and everyone else too). I tried Chicago... it's at about $1100 RT to STT those weeks. Yikes. So... for right now I'm probably going to do the Suncountry charter from MSP to SXM. LIAT looks promising for SXM to STT (and I'm taking everyone's advice about allowing plenty of extra t...

Keep those suggestions coming

Thanks for all of your (rapid) inputs and suggestions so far. Getting from MSP to STT is getting tougher and tougher. Suncountry has been the main charter airline to both STT and SXM... but dropped STT this year. Our only major carrier options are Northworst (via San Juan) and Delta (via Atlanta). H...

Not lurking anymore

OK, I've been lurking for about 2 weeks, biding my time. We just today finalized our plans for 2 weeks at Christmas... two Minnesota couples and our 18 year old son...(kind of a senior trip and 35th wedding anniversary celebration). We'll spend the first week on St. Maarten; second week on St. John....

Tree House

We stayed in Tree House a few years back, and we loved it. The location is amazing.. on the top of Ajax Peak with fabulous views. It's not fancy... no pool... but we didn't care. The driveway is intimidating at first, but we got used to it. We fought over the hammock on the porch. Check the villa re...

Coral Bay villas

We've tried several locations and definitely prefer the east side. Try www.windspree.com. We've dealt with them before, and they "specialize" in properties in and around Coral Bay. Very nice people. We've never needed that big of a property, but they show several with 4 and 5 bedrooms, and...
