WOW, Anthony... really makes me wish we were going to be there 3 weeks earlier.

Hopefully you'll keep us informed of other special events during the holiday weeks too!

Thanks for all you do,

Yikes... I feel really lucky. We've had very little trouble w/ mosquitos (most of our trips have been in Dec or Mar), and just occasional visits by little gekko-type lizards, one big cockroach, and one too-friendly bat. Absolutely no scorpions. That scares me. We are pretty retentive about keeping t...

My entire family is very nearsighted, so this has been an issue for us for years. Before our first trip to STJ (guess that was about 14 years ago), I "gave" my husband scuba lessons and a prescription mask for his birthday. At that time, about the only option available was to actually have...

Hi, KathyMN, when are you coming down? I'll be there Nov. 24th-Dec. 17th this year. It is good to see other Minnesotans on the board, if anyone needs to escape to STJ in the winter it's Minnesotans, right? Hi StJohnMike (and Smiles too....) We'll be in St. Maarten from Dec 20 to 27 and STJ from Dec...

Happy Anniversary parafins, and everybody else celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. We too will be celebrating our 35th anniversary with a trip over Christmas. You know, I think it's amazing how many couples are celebrating some pretty long-term milestones on this special island. Maybe there's s...

You know, there's just not anything better than having a STJ trip on the horizon to help make it through one of our winters. We're going in December... (the only time our mutual schedules would allow).... But it will be tough coming back from paradise knowing that we've got a loooonnnngggg, hard, em...

Definitely... forgiveness later. If I found airfare for that rate ANY time time of the year, much less spring break, I'd have it booked in less than a heartbeat. You'd probably spend that much or more to get to FLA, and then have to fight your way through all of the mickey-ness. Yuk. I'd grab it. Ju...

Thanks to all of you for the "what's new" news. I know that nothing stays the same, but I'm glad to hear that the "spirit" of STJ is still intact. With 93 days to go, I find myself already a bit distracted, day-dreamy, and checking this forum several times a day. I've got it bad....

When we were there 4 years ago, they had a luggage check service right at the airport. I think it was $2 per bag, and they had a locked room just off the main lobby (before check-in and security). Don't they have that any more? (It was December... so maybe it's only in the high season????). Just won...

In addition to the things already mentioned... I always pack (on ANY vacation), my bag o'bags. In a one gallon-sized ziplock bag, I put a half dozen or so each of gallon/quart/sandwich/snack ziplock bags. I do my own vacuum seal on it (eg. zip it almost shut then suck out all the remaining air) and ...

After jealously looking at all of your beautiful underwater photos... and having limited myself to those horrible disposable things... and later trying to find the fish in the haze... I finally broke down and ordered a digital one on Friday from Overstock.com for $119! ("original" price wa...

OK... so I'm probably the most ticker-challenged idiot on here. I've been trying for a week to make a ticker. I've tried 3 different web sites... at least 5 different tickers. I've been too embarassed to do a "ticker check" post, so have just looked at my replies, and found them ticker-les...

What's new on STJ?

OK, it's official-- we're under 100 days! It's been quite an interesting experience getting all of the details worked out w/ 2 islands over the busy holiday weeks... but we did it! It's been 4 years since our last trip to STJ, and from what I've been reading, there's quite a few new things. So, for ...

I've been reading all of your installments, and haven't replied until now. Thanks so much for your entertaining and informative posts, and the fabulous pictures.
