Just to add my two bits - we took our then 18month old to St John about 4 years ago. The flight was the biggest problem but she had a great time while we were there and it was a fantastic trip. We rented baby goods from: http://www.islandbabyvi.com/ This made things easier and reduced the things we ...

We recently stayed at Villa Serenity at Francis Bay. It's about a 5 minute walk from the beach and is one of the few villas within the National Park. We really enjoyed it, a nice breeze made it feel much cooler than when we stayed in Cruz Bay. And unlike Cruz Bay we didn't have a mosquito problem. T...

Thanks for the info Pia. Di, we'll be catching the 1:00 from CA if thats the right time; I was hoping to be in St John by 3 so I'll have to pass on the private Taxi.
Have a great trip!

I hadn't heard about the reduced schedule, was planning on heading over to St. John on the 6th as well. I'll run it by my wife; it would be two of us plus a 18month old. With us and all our gear, my worry is it might get a bit crowded. Would a private taxi hold all of us and our gear? We'll be overn...

We're taking our daughter who will be 18 months when we arrive. I too appreciated the info on the medical center... that's one thing that I haven't come accross when lurking the forums thus far and I was wondering if I needed to come prepared for that kinda stuff with a bottle of Amoxycillin with us...

Thanks all, I think I'm going with Green Iguana. Crystal Palace looks awesome but it also looks like a place where a toddler could do some serious damage.
I had no idea that we were arriving at the tail end of carnivale.

Again, thanks for your infinite wisdom. I didn't think the ferries ran that late! What time would that put us in Cruz bay if we decided to go that route? I think it might be worth pushing our wee one for what I hear is the worthwhile pleasure of waking up on the island.

Overnight in St Thomas

We've got a long travel day booked and sadly, couldn't get into St Thomas until 9:00pm. Just wondering if anyone had suggestions for a decent place to overnightin ST Thomas before heading to STJ in the morning that is easy to get to from the airport - I'm guessing we're going to be pretty beat. Woul...

Wow! Does it make me a bad parent to consider accepting babysitting services from someone I don't know over the internet?
I'll see if I can figure out private messaging and talk to you about it... I have a feeling this is headed way off topic
Cheers!

Ksea, I await your review with baited breath. Overall, the reviews on Trip advisor sound pretty positive with the occasional negative review thrown in. I was not disuaded.

Thanks again all for the extremely warm welcome. Just to update, we were looking for something near Cruz Bay for the first couple weeks, a place we could be at and not need a car. Star villa was the one we settled on - it seems to have been on many peoples list of possibles for locations near Cruz B...
