Teefal, I am most looking forward to being able to unwind. The last several months have been a whirlwind for me and my family. Job lay-off, new job with a very long commute, daughter about to graduate from college with no job in sight, son graduating from high school with a serious case of senioriti...

Glorious Day in the NE

For those of us in the northeast, isn't today fantastic? I am sitting outside in my bathing suit, soaking up rays (responsively, of course, as a melanoma survivor) and working on a playlist for our upcoming trip. What a welcome change!! Sorry, I forgot to mention the incredibly refreshing gin and to...

Wow, lots of very excited late May travelers!! I didn't realize my little self serving post would generate such a response. Unfortunately my new job, for which I am really grateful, does not allow me to access the forum. So, the first thing I do is come home and see what I missed. Now I am even more...

Under a month to go!!

Just had to do this to check my ticker!! Under a month until we leave so we went out to a local restaurant for mojitos to celebrate. We also had a little dinner to go with those mojitos and watched the Flyers beat the Penguins. A good night in all respects.

Orchid Villa and her sister villa Oleander are within walking distance to Klein Bay. The beach is cobblestone though so entry is tricky but the snorkeling is pretty good. Again, the accomodations with young kids may not be ideal as the one pod has a bedroom upstairs and one at pool level. There is a...

Hey BostonMike I am with you! When I lost my job my husband and I said that nothing was going to keep us from going on our trip. Luckily we stuck to our decision because as you saw from my other post I was able to find another position very quickly. Here's to hoping you have similar luck! If not, us...

Thanks all for the well wishes. I think our trip to St John will be even more enjoyable knowing that I will not have unemployment hanging over my head. I am truly blessed!

Nancy, hope you and Ed have a wonderful trip once again.

Jim and Amy, I am so happy for both of you. How exciting! I really can not offer much for you because we too were looking for a villa with similar requirements. We settled on Sunnyledge which overlooks Francis Bay. There is walking access but it would be a longer walk and maybe not ideal when dresse...

A New Start

So, after being the victim of corporate downsizing at the beginning of March I have been fortunate enough to find a new opportunity. I start my new job on Friday. Does this mean that I can't take my planned trip to our favorite island in May? Absolutely not!! It was high on my "must have" ...

Funny you mentioned the "rabbit". When I saw that picture I thought it was so appropriate for today. Great trip report. Thanks for the tip on Solomon. We didn't get there on our first trip and would like to go there this time.

Hoosierdaddy, we stayed in Orchid Villa a few years ago. Loved the sound of those rocks in the surf. We could hear it from the deck. Really cool sound when you are in the water. I too am interested in good snorkeling from a kayak. We want to do some kayaking when we are there in May. Intend to do Wh...

I also endorse Maho for first timers. Took my 76 yr old Mom there on our first trip to the island. She never got the hang of the snorkeling but the calm water and easy entry gives new snorkelers fewer things to worry about.
