My hubby, an avid triathlete, says to go to trinewbies.com and visit their forum - post a question for virgingirl (aka Jodie) and she will give you the whole scoop! Good luck!! Be ready for those hills!

Bob and Sharon - I glanced at your lovely photos and then happened to notice the link to the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. My aunt, Marian Heard, aa professor at UT/Knoxville was a founding member of the Summer Arts Workshop affiliated with UT/Knoxville and then was named the original directo...

Thanks everyone - you have come up with some great ideas so far! I really appreciate it. One thing I think I have identified as boosting our trip price up is the length of time we like to go for. Because we live in the northeast (and I know it's the same for lots and lots of us) it takes us a whole ...

Strategies to get to St John!

My husband and I love to travel especially to St John. We have a nice income and can afford a nice vacation but it is still what I consider pretty expensive to go to St John! We usually end up spending 6k by the time you factor in airline tix, rum, lodging, rum, rental car, food, rum, and well... ru...

We stayed at OPH in April of 2006 and loved it. The views, the villa itself, the location, the layout - everything was wonderful. The pool was tropically warm when we were there (late April time frame) and whether the pool was heated or not I have no idea. I question how frigidly cold it could reall...

We stayed at Palladios View four years ago and loved it. As far as views go - unbelievable. We went in late April and didn't mind not having a/c but that's us. The house had tons of ceiling fans and the sun was behind the hill/mountain in the afternoon so it didn't beat in the house all day. The roa...

We went to St John and Cooper Island for 12 days with carryon only in April. It was our first venture just doing carryon and I will definitely do it again. We each had one 22" expandable rolling suitcase - we got everything we needed inside including a beach towel, snorkel gear and our clothing...

I agree with Rick keep this simple so noone goes to the wrong spot or worries if someone's flight is early or late. Here is what I would do - after arrival - get my free rum punch, relax, gather luggage, head to ferry - either CA or Red Hook - arrive St John, turn right and head to Beach Bar for a f...

We really prefer the CA ferry to the Red Hook. The last time we were on island was in April and unfortunately the CA ferries weren't running so we were forced into the RH route. If you go to RH you are in a van with 10 other people with A/C that may or may not be very cold and are in for a 45 min ri...

We have stayed at both One Particular Harbour and Palladio's View and loved them both - both are (or were when stayed there!) very private, both have unbelievable views and were very lovely villas. Have fun making your decision!
