I went solo in December. Great trip. Friends are easily made. Plus some nice peace and quiet lounging under a sea grape tree. Enjoy!

I can't tell you about the weather as I've never been to SJ.....but I definitely share your affliction. I booked my ticket last week and arrive in a couple weeks myself!
