Shipwreck Landing 05/30/2009
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
We just love Shipwreck Landing. This time we had the pleasure of meeting "Shipwreck Pat", the owner. We started off with frozen drinks, all were yummy. I got a lime'n'd'coconut with no rum, and it was so refreshing. Its essentially a lime and coconut slurpie. Their rendition of the bushwhacker is my husband's favorite on STJ. I had my usual salad with grilled shrimp, excellent as always. Nice fresh salad greens and good dressing. Hubby had grouper encrusted with nuts and curry. It was fantastic and we would definitely get it again. My friend had a salad with mahi on top (the fish was really good), and friend's hubby had meatloaf with mashed potatoes. While I don't think of meatloaf as very "islandy" type food, he enjoyed it. We all had Key Lime pie for dessert which is some of the best KL pie ever. Its a bit tart and comes out partially frozen.
We love the casual atmosphere with the view to the palm trees and the water. They had feeders for the bananaquits next to our table in the bushes. We were entertained watching the bananaquits feeding and fluttering around.
One of the waitresses makes her own hot sauce and sells it there. It is called Valley Doll hot sauce. It is delicious and we bought a bottle to bring home.
We highly recommend a visit to Shipwreck Landing.
