Tourist Trap 02/10/2009
Reviewers Rating: Great
Located just before Salt Pond Bay, the Tourist Trap is a small food van surrounded by tables with a tarp for shade. It’s very casual and eclectic. The owner is extremely friendly and chatty, and is obviously having a terrific time running his business. The menu is small, and features lobster rolls, hot dogs, nachos, mahi sandwiches, and a couple of other items as available. There is a limited mixed drink menu, as well as beer and wine. FYI since I know some people complain about this at Skinny Legs--there’s no fryer, so sandwiches come with chips.

The grilled mahi sandwiches here were decent, with good sturdy rolls and fresh lettuce-tomato-tartar. Though well cooked, I thought the fish was a little less fresh than what I’m used to eating--and not nearly as good as Shipwreck Landing’s. The signature drink is called a “Drink Right, Keep Left,” a mix of six rums and various fruit juices. It had too strong a flavor of passion fruit juice for me, but it was nice to sample.

The unique setting and friendly owner will have us stopping by again when we are in the Salt Pond area.
