La Tapa 02/10/2009
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
La Tapa is hands down my favorite restaurant in Cruz Bay. We have never been disappointed in our meals here. This time we started with the bread and la tapa oil—a blend of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, parmesean cheese, and herbs. It’s delicious—my only complaint is that I really wish La Tapa had more interesting bread. For appetizers, we split the salad of josephine’s greens topped with cashew crusted goat cheese. This is a refreshing salad—I really like the mint in it. Next course was langoustines in a mango-ginger buerre blanc…yummy! For mains, we shared a dish of seared tuna on crispy polenta with a red pepper sauce—absolutely divine. We finished with the cheese plate. I did feel a little rushed to pick which cheeses we wanted, but I guess I don’t blame the waiter—they bring the cheese selections to the table on a large display platter, and that big wooden board must be heavy! All of the cheeses were delicious, though I would have liked a little more truffle honey than what was on the plate.

Service was efficient and helpful. I recommend sitting inside to soak up the atmosphere of the restaurant. The unique decorations and soft lighting sets the mood for a delicious dinner better than sitting out next to the street, in my opinion.

Highest recommendation. Definitely try this restaurant!
