Panini Beach Trattoria 06/25/2006
Reviewers Rating: Good
For our last dinner on the island we decided to go to a place I’d read good things about, Panini Beach Trattoria. It’s located on the waterfront in Cruz Bay beside High Tide, just a few yards away from the ferry dock. We got a great table on the rail, the fourth time we’d dined with a view during the week.

The menu had appetizers, pastas, and entrees, and we felt free to pick and choose and create our own dinners. My wife had bruschetta pomodoro ($12) and pizza angeli, made with gorgonzola cheese ($12). I had a “customer favorite,” parmesan-crusted grouper ($24) and a ricotta-stuffed ravioli appetizer ($12). One of our friends had the ravioli and pizza angeli, and the other enjoyed a spinach salad and the pizza. I think we all agreed the food was good, but was not on a par with several of the other restaurants we visited. The service was a little slow, but the people were very nice.

My bill without drinks or dessert was $64. Oh, one shocker for a Southerner – ice tea was $2 a glass, and refills weren’t free. Now, that’s what I call profit margin.
