We began the evening at the bar for a round of cocktails. The bartender made us what we requested, something he had never heard of before, and did a fine job. We had reservations but had to wait a brief time for our table to become available. We have found La Tapa to be consistently appealing. The sidewalk tables are a delight if you don’t mind slow moving traffic moving within inches of you while dining. On this visit (Fri Feb 24) we are seated in the middle level around the corner, a little off the street but we can still feel the energy of the street people passing by. For appetizers I loved my Gorgonzola Caesar salad, a perfect blend of flavors, with a couple toasted bread slices covered with melted cheese, a nice touch. My husband had the Gazpacho, which he described as having a nice texture w/ a very peppery tomato flavor. We shared the escargot enclosed in a puff pastry drizzled w/ a light white sauce. Our entr饠was the Paella for 2, which consisted of a sticky risotto loaded w/ shrimp, mussels, fish, sausage and octopus. We enjoyed a nice New Zealand Pinot Noir during our meal. I have to give a heads up to a friendly knowledgeable staff, good service, with a comfortable vibe that created a very enjoyable evening. I like it here. I recommend it and will continue to return to this restaurant.
