Duffy's Love Shack 03/25/03

I think you need a 0-poor catagory. Duffy's Love Shack: Awful. The sticky, dirty menus should have been our first clue. The drink were fun in fun glasses, and the Tiki atmosphere upstairs is cute. End of compliments. The quacamole was canned and tasteless. I ordered the peel and eat shrimp to share with my little one and it came in a cute little fishnet. As the waitress approached the table my son said, "What's that smell?" It was rancid shrimp. No one can't smell bad shrimp. It was putrid and they sent it out of the kitchen anyway. Had we eaten it we would have been intimately familliar with the hospital on the hill. We sent it right back and the waitress acknowledged that it had in fact turned, but then neglected to take it off the bill. In fairness, she was really busy, the only server for the entire upstairs, and no one was helping her. She kept her cool under difficult circumstances. Later we found out that Duffy's is dramatically under staffed. No wonder. I wouldn't want to work there either. I often think a restaurant's bathroom says alot about the general cleanliness of a place. It was filthy...as bad as any rock concert outhouse.

What a difference 3 years makes. When they first opened we enjoyed it.
