Off The Wall 01/25/03

Off The Wall is on the northern side of the island and boast some of the most spectacular scenery anywhere. We were staying just down the road at the Carambola and decided our first night (1-11-03) to have dinner at Off The Wall. It is a really casual place literally on the water. The picnic tables are painted bright caribbean colors and the palm trees had tiny white lights around them. A hammock was swaying between the palms. The air was warm, the food outstanding and our waitress was very friendly and even sat down to chat. There was a group of locals clustered around the "U" shaped bar who seemed content to sit back and shoot the breeze with each other and the bartender. We liked it so much that we came back for breakfast twice and stopped by one night for drinks on our way back to Carambola. Every meal was terrific! Everyone we saw and talked to there was very firendly and engaging. The beautifull view of the ocean and the shoreline made us reluctant to leave each time we visited. Off The Wall, like so much of St. Croix, is the perfect spot to kick back, relax and soak up the atmosphere while enjoying great food and company. I can't wait to go back again!!
