I keep getting the message "you can't make another post so soon after your last, please try again later"......huh????

Yes there is a time stamp function so machines (spammers) can't automatically flood a forum with spam. I would just log out and re-log in- and/or just give it a minute. I will check the setting to see what it is at though-
