No one that truly know us will believe us, but this is the FIRST year we have stayed at home since................drum roll.............1977!!!!!!!!!! I cannot even fathom this, but guys, we are having a blast!!
Drinking, snacking, drinking, snacking, playing a game, snacking, drinking...........it's 34 degres here with 40mph winds!!!!!!!!!!! SO COLD (at least for us ya crazy Northerner's). Well I must go......hubby is challenging me to a game of Monopoly!!!!!!
YES, this "happy talk" is probably a combo of Painkillers and Champagne..........combined with the fact that we leave for STJ in 11 days!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR MY FORUM FRIENDS!!!!!!!!!!

We are doing the same this year. Been on Las Vegas BLvd, LA, St John, Florida, Mexico for New Years Eve. But for once, just being a home with champagne and friends, playing cards is fun!

Jan, we're home too. It's been our routine the last few years. Games, movies, food and drinks. It's a good night to be home and together.
Happy New Year! 11 days..... SO jealous!

Ours is to go to a local neighborhood bonfire in which everyone brings their Christmas trees and throws them in a big pile on the neutral ground and lights it just before midnight meanwhile lots of fireworks are being shot off.
This year was different because the city decided to become involved in something that has been a tradition for over 8 decades and almost cancelled it but after alot of community protest opted to let it happen but with alot of rules and stipulations and barricades. All it did was bring triple the amount of people that are normally there.
It was still fun and something that is hard to fathom till you are actually there. If we didn't do that, I don't know what we would do...watching the ball (or whatever drops) in Jackson Square downtown just doesn't do it for us.
Happy 2009 everyone!!!

Brad & I went to a masquerade party in the Lake Village AR. It was dressy and I wore black dress I bought for a bermuda trip 10 years ago---well, it was a little tight. Didn't consider the restricted range of motion. The straps popped off! Was wearing a little wrap so it wasn't noticable. Dress stayed up, thank goodness. Brad was on call so he didn't drink. He had fun anyway! There was dancing, libations, impromptu karaoke (where I sang "blahh-bbleee blah" if I didn't know the words or make things up). Happy New Year!

We stayed in our neighborhood and visited friends, had friends call (Jan and Mike)and more friends come over for fireworks at midnight. We didn't get up till after 1pm this afternoon. I cooked cabbage while Kenneth took down christmas decorations outside and took down th tree decorations so he could take that out too.
I was whipped out again so I took a nap, washed my hair and went out again for dinner with the friends who didn't make it out last night.
Now that I am stuffed and whipped out again it is a little computer time with a glass of Glenlevit and it will be early to bed.......

We had some good friends over, cooked a prime rib roast and abused our new wine cellar that we built ourselves this last fall.
If anyone is interesting in this kind of thing, here a pictures of the entire project from start to finish:

Thanks guys for hearing about your New Years Eve plans.........(sorry CAT to miss the last call, but read on). So we did great fell asleep before midnight (at least on the couch together), and missed the infamous ball drop, which we've never really seen live.
Happy New Years to all, and I LOVE the bonfire nothintolose. I wouldn't fit in your neighborhood, my tree is still up!!! My mother insists it cannot come down until Epiphany. So up it stays, but Mike is only giving me until Sunday, then boom it's gone.
Wow, love the wine cellar Bob & Anita...........you folks are serious!!!!
Love ya all,
Jan & Mike
