I just went last month and the book I read was good Southern chick lit, "The Devil in the Junior League." It was quite the page-turner and very juicy beach reading!

Lulu, that is MY kind of beach reading. Have you read any of the author's other books? If I like a new author, I like to order others from Amazon all at once.

I have the Suky Stackhouse (True Blood books) at home that I haven't read yet and will also get Twilight series for Christmas (well, requested them and hoping they come).

I like to read island themed stuff....

OK.. I CONFESS I read total TRASH while on vacay. Last week while on island was romance: "A Pirates Love" by Johanna Lindsey.

To redeem myself (a little bit any way) I bought a copy of "Don't Stop the Carnival" by Herman Wouk.

Jimmy Buffet's "A Pirate Looks at 50" is also a great read.

Cap'n Fatty Goodlanders book "Seadogs Clowns and Gypsies" is also a really fun read.

I read trash too -mindless is best for me on vacation!

I started reading "Don't Stop the Carnival" on our last trip (there was a copy in the house), and I think I might buy a copy and read it. What I read was good, but I didn't dare take it to the beach after what happened last year.

Nancy, I haven't read any more books by that author, but it sounds like I need to check it out.

I have a confession to make: I don't read any of those romance novels with the scurrilous covers. I had a teacher in high school who said those were trash and encouraged us to read "real" romance novels like Wuthering Heights, Emma and Persuasion. So, I might read English Classics, but I know nothing about Danielle Steele.

Sometimes I watch the TV adaptations on Lifetime Movie Network and wonder if I'm missing out.

P.S. That reminds me that I also read "The Jane Austen Book Club" last trip. It's good too.

I never read that crap at home. But vacay is an escape so my reading material might as well be too!

I admit that I read trash whenever I travel. Years ago, I had a huge issue with flying and claustrophia on planes. I found that if I have light reading that I can get fully engrossed in easily, I could pretend I was somewhere other then a cramped, tin can. Now I read it on planes and on vacations. I did a whole stint of English Chick Lit that I loved and now read whatever others recommend.

I work so hard when I'm not on vacation so I totally enjoy the escape of mindless reading.

You girls have inspired me. I'm totally reading something with Fabio on the cover for the next vacation!

Okay, I'll admit it. I read trashing novels all the time. I don't watch much tv so I read alot. Here are some of my favorite authors:

Roxanne St Clair
Suzanne Brockmann
Cindy Gerard
Beverly Barton
Marliss Melton

For more of a mild romance, try Sheryl Woods or Nicolas Sparks.

If you like Christian novels, I like Dee Henderson and Karen Kingsbury.

I read them all. I had to start a spreadsheet just to keep track of what I've read so I don't buy them again.

I stumbled across a fairly new author Jen Lancaster recently and have NEVER laughed so hard while reading a book...

She's a blog writer (www.jennsylvania.com) and although the books are really about nothing but her life, it makes for a VERY fun read! (You will be the crazy person on the beach laughing to yourself. i promise!)

The Friday Night Knitting Club is also a great read but can be a bit depressing. I'd go with the other books if you're looking for a HAPPY book!
