someone here (cannot remember who) said that there are ways to recoup the price difference if the fare drops by a certain amount--you should check that out

I already did check it out and it would cost me more to change it, then the actual savings. thanks for the thought!

Check out Yapta. I know others have received vouchers when the flights were tracked by Yapta - not sure if it will work after the fact.

The airlines used to be more generous with "price guaranties". Now for example, my Continental tickets have a $150 change fee. Yapta will track these price differences and let you know when you can net money out of a change.
Here's mine-
travel credits
Purchase price: $508.58
Change fee: $150.00
Current price: $428.57
*Travel voucher: No voucher is currently available.

Just got $258 pp nonstop out of Newark for March but had to go Wed to Wed for that deal (taxes bring it up to $306 pp).
Paid almost that much for 1 ticket for this past October and got hurricaned by Omar - fo figure.
