Hello all,

First a little bit about us:
Married 2 years in May
Early 40s w/no children (but trying)
Looking to do something every other day
Looking to do nothing every other day
(more couch-potatoes that atheletes)

Will be at the Wyndham Elysian resort April 11-18
plan to rent a car (wife says I can't put 1800mi on it like I did the jeep on the Big Island of Hawaii last May...hey, give a guy a 4-wheel drive and 250 square miles...what did you expect...oh, yeah... also 200mi on a Harley.)

We plan to fly in to San Juan on the 10th and out of San Juan on the 19th (need hotel advice - 2 one night stays) and then take the seaplane to St. Thomas (da plane!, da plane!)

I already plan for us to "Snuba" on the 15th in the AM. (should we do the St. Thomas or the St. John snuba?)

Most of these ideas I have gotten from lurking this forum for the past month.

We would really appreciate any suggestions and tips anyone could give us. (where did I put those little brown envelopes?)

Pia (island resident and forum member) recommended a hotel in old San Juan. I can't remember the name but the Englsh translation was something like "The old convent"

I would definately recommend taking the ferry to STJ for a day trip or two.

I believe they are still in WV visiting friends and family.

We stayed in the Wyndham in Old San Juan several years ago. It is on the south side of the old city near the cruse ship port. It is convenient to walk the old town and has parking if you want to get a car and get out to see the rest of the island. It's an old building (of course it is. It's in OLD San Juan)with modern features.

El Convento is very cool, but kinda pricey. Two relatively inexpensive places in OSJ are Hotel Milano and the Howard Johnson (of all places).

While on STT you may want to check out Secret Harbor - good bar, nice beach, restaurant.

The old convent hotel looks nice and might be something we splurge on.
