Spirit Air/USAir Pogo Dance

Spirit Air seems to be tweaking the air fares a couple of times a day this week. We caught a downstroke early this week. It looks like US Air is dancing along. April 28 - May 5, DCA to STT is running $325 on US Air and $321 on Spirit Air. They'll probably swap shortly. Rather interesting to watch the battle for the bottom.
A flashback to 1979!

We have been watching that too, Rick. Went ahead today and got tickets today out of DC in April. Watch, now they'll go down in price! Was just afraid to wait too long.

Well, things can't go much lower. I've never gotten below $300 rt. At this price, STJ is not much more expensive than the Eastern Shore of the Outer Banks!

I've been checking every day for fares in May and June--haven't found anything cheaper than $480 out of Boston yet. It's still too early, I think.

There's one stop on the way down in Ft. Lauderdale. We leave at 7:30 am and are in STT by 1:30. For the trip home we leave at 3:50 straight to DC and land at 9:50.

No direct flights out of DC. We lost out United Saturday direct flights. So, it's via PHL, Charlotte, MIA, FLL, SJU, or Laguardia. As long as I hit STT before 2PM I'm cool with that. Some of the old routings used to get us in before 1. The United direct left at 0830, so the flight time was less, but the arrival time was not as good as the early AA flight via SJU.

I remember that flight; the first trip I made to St. John was on that United flight out of DC, straight to STT......wonderful, felt like you didn't lose a day.

And, you didn't have to leave Fredericksburg at 0200 for an 0700 flight! I don't quite understand why we can't get a direct flight to STT from DC? Look at how many DC area folks we have on the forum. I imagine that the local Boys from Bongo would have justified the flight on their own these last years!!

AMEN! Just reading on this board and others, like you say, there are oodles of us from this DC/VA/MD area who would take full advantage of this flight. The airlines keep saying they want to please/serve their customers - well, this sure would go a long way in making that a reality...guess they realize that 1) we are going to continue to make the trip and 2) we'll just have to get there any way they make possible.
