We awoke Friday morning with the knowledge that this was the last day we would have to do all the things we had planned/hoped to do while here.

John, Helene, and JJ like to do Geo-Cacheing, a fun sport that developed upon the widespread availability of GPS systems. I have been with them on one hunt, and it is loads of fun. Today, they have Geo-Caches to find on St. John, as well as a little stuffed animal that is making it's way around the world and is going to stay on the island after we leave.

Because this is a sport that requires a good bit of hiking, some of it in difficult terraine, we decided that Jim and I would succumb to Villa Gravity while John, Helene and JJ went out doing their thing. It was really very nice, laying about the pool, reading, nibbling at the leftovers from our dinner last night, an occasional snoooze. It is beautifully quiet, and I just nestled in. Jim was doing likewise, and we were surprised to hear the Geo-cachers returning. It was already 2:30!

We all headed out to the pool and talked, splashed, dunked, played. It is so nice to just relax. In the backs of our minds was the desperate knowledge that this was it. Our last day. It was too precious to waste.

As the sun started sinking lower, Helene started up the Hot Tub, and as we each started to feel chilly, we came in and joined her. One by one, the whole group. We hadn't had all of us in there at once before, but it was cozy. John got the camera out to get some good sunset photos while we lazed away.

When the sun had finally gone down, we were reluctant to get out, leave the Hot Tub for the last time. JJ went and turned on the outside lights and the pool lights and came and rejoined us. We stayed in that Hot Tub way longer than we had any other night. No one wanted to get out and go into the house. We finally decided we had to.

Preliminary packing had to get started. We each headed off to our rooms to start, plastic grocery bags for dirty laundry. Bathing suits were hung up to dry for the morrow, drawers and closets searched for items that could be missed. We all showered and changed to our PJs and headed in. I set our alarm, knowing full well I wouldn't need it, but we were supposed to be out of the house by 10 AM. I didn't want to chance oversleeping.
A long, sad night's sleep.
