Mike & I are thinking of spending a couple of nights on Jost for our next trip. Where should I go for information, is there a BVI travel forum? Has anyone ever stayed at The Sea Crest Inn?
Thanks in advance

I have stayed at the Seacrest, as well as a couple of other places on the island. The Seacrest was (is?) is owned by a very nice and welcoming woman. I believe there are four rooms, all of which overlook the harbor. The room was well-furnished, with a kitchenette. Very clean. Our only problem at the time was that the sliding doors didn't have screens, so you couldn't have the nice breeze at night. There was AC. The Seacrest is a handy location.

Hi Jan:
We stayed at the Perfect Pineapple a couple of months ago for one night. The rooms are simple but nice.
The only thing I would suggest is that you ask for a lower room. They are situated on the side of a huge hill and the walk to the top can be quite exhausting!

TTOL is the forum we've found most helpful for the BVI. There are several residents and longtime visitors who are very helpful.

We've never stayed on Jost overnight, but did spend a week on VG and really planned the whole trip with assistance from people on that forum.

Check out Ivan's Guest House -
http://www.ivanscampground.com/
We stayed at Gertrude's Beach Bungalow in 2004 - way local!!!
The good thing about Seacrest is that there is more going on in Great Harbor at night than on White Bay. Getting cabs to White Bay during the day is easy, after closing down Foxy's not so easy.
Cheers, RickG

Hi Jan,
I stayed at Sea Crest with some friends in July, and it was just fine. The rooms are modest and it's very, very clean. The woman that owns it stays on St. Thomas, I believe, but there is a live-in caretaker that is also very sweet. We really liked them and they were kind to us.
The only problem we had was when I tried to pay with AmEx and they didn't quite know how to communicate with me that they didn't take AmEx (yes, I should have known to just use another card, but duh. I'd already had rum at that point, so that's my excuse).
But even with the BVI police showed up at our door (try stepping out of the shower and opening the door to that knock!) they were very nice. Turns out the officer is the Sea Crest owner's brother, so it was just a favor. Only in the islands, right?
I think you'll love staying on Jost. Let me know if you have questions!

Hey LMG!!! Good to hear from you. Thanks for the info, I'm thinking we're going to go for it. It's hard sometimes with Credit Cards, but SUCH SERVICE!! The police and all, wow.
Take care gal, and thanks for the input!

Hi Jan! We'll be spending one night on Jost at Ivan's during this trip. I am really looking forward to it. I promise to report back (as long as Gromit promises that there shall be no video if I end up doing something like jumping naked off Scubagirl's catamaran after one too many jello shots). Hey, I am simply trying to prepare for worst case scenario here....

Thanks Vicki........have a great time at Ivans! We actually have made reservations at Sea Crest Inn in Great Harbour right next to Foxy's (is that a good thing or a bad thing?).
If Gromit gives you any trouble gently remind her that I have pictures from our villa dinner last year........she'll remember (or NOT)!!
Have fun!
