Thanksgiving on St. John

So, I'm looking at my vacation schedule for next year. (Yes, I know I just got back, but my work likes us to know the next year's plans by mid-December.) Anyhow, I am thinking it makes a lot of sense, due to my limited vacation time, to go over the week of Thanksgiving. This would also save me the hassle of making a big Thanksgiving meal.

I can't really tell, however, if most villas charge additional for Thanksgiving. The ones that I know of for sure that do not seem to already be booked. I know a lot of you travel at Thanksgiving, so does anyone have some insight on this for me? If it's going to be a lot extra for a house, I'll just go another time and maybe skip my birthday trip to Disney World.

If you do decide to go, thanks to advances in technology, you don't even have to figure out how to have traditional Thanksgiving fare when on island any more - it can be as close as the fridge:

Oh, Augie, that's so gross.

I think I have a new plan now. I will keep you all posted.

I've had a good time Thanksgiving week and have found off-season prices. Higher fees for Thanksgiving week seem to be a villa-by-villa thing rather than by rental company. Check around.

Cheers, RickG

I did find a few places that offered off-season rates for Thanksgiving. Now, I am thinking that I'll end up going in February 2010 instead. Of course, the rates are through the roof then, but you'll have that.

Lulu,

If you can, avoid Presidet's Day week. I was there that week a few weeks back and many families were there with their kids. It was the most crowded I'd ever seen St. John.

Oh, that's gross.

You see, Lulu has hired a personal trainer and has decided to get back into training for half-marathons. I figure if I don't get healthier now, I never will.

I figured that the next big race to conquer would be 8 Tuff Miles. That gives me a goal (work out or you don't get to go to St. John) and it also gives me a huge reward.

But why does the race have to be during such a busy time? Regardless, this is my plan, and I'll just pay twice as much for everything and like it!
