Is it true that there are no real food options in the Spirit terminal at FLL--
I will have a longish (3.5 hour) layover while waiting for the STT flight--is it easy to leave the terminal find something somewhere else and then check back thru security?

sorry to ask such stupid questions.....

There really isn't much in the Spirit terminal - maybe a food stand or two. When we flew home in 2007, we went right outside of the terminal and ate at a Sbarro (or maybe a food court?). Anyway, it was pretty easy to get back through security. I would think that with 3.5 hours you'd have no problems whatsoever.

There is a small Nathan's that usually has a long line and less than mediocre food -- there is a food cart that often has a long line and some wrapped sandwiches, some fruit choices and some salad boxes -- depending on the restocking time it can be OK food. You can go outside -- I haven't, ... so cannot comment on the available options.
Those 2 choices are it though, and the terminal and gates can get really crowded.

There's not really anywhere to get food inside the terminal. There is a Nathan's but the food isn't great and the line is generally horrendous because it's the only option.

There are a few more (not many that I saw) options outside of the terminal, but at times the security lines were a little frightening (like out the door of the airport frightening).

On my trip in November (which was on a Saturday, which is supposed to be the airport's busiest day), I had a little under 4 hours for my layover. I went out of the terminal and met my brother and sister-in-law (who live in Miami) for lunch and still made it back inside without feeling rushed. There was a little Cuban restaurant right by the security checkpoint, but I guess there is a chili's in another terminal.
Someone else mentioned there is a Sbarro too.
