Going to Vegas for 5 days tomorrow for a military retirement ceremony at Nelis AFB. He's a hero, glad to be going for that reason. I'm not into Gambling or Porn, any suggestions?

Hoover Dam Tour. It's a bit of a bus ride out there (if you don't have your own vehicle), but I loved it! The bus ride was actually kind of fun.

The Cirque Du Soleil shows are pretty amazing. "O" is my favorite by far. They sell same day tickets in their ticket office at the Bellagio. Pricey, but worth it, I think.
Also check out Bellagio's garden and the Chuhuly in the lobby is pretty cool too!

Check out Green Valley Ranch area. Great shopping and local entertainment. Also, Lake Las Vegas has music on the lake for free. Drive up Mt. Charleston for great views and you can snow ski or relax and have a hot toddy on the side of the slope.
Best off-strip Italian is Nora's Cuisine at 6020 W. Flamingo Blvd. (at Jones and Flamigo).
Drive out to The Lakes area and play golf.
Lots to do in Vegas besides gambling.

I second the hoover dam. We rented a car for one day cheaper than tour. Lovely wine store/restaurant in town ( just before you get to the dam) for lunch.

Stay in one of the best hotels. You might be surprised at the prices. Venetian Suites may be going for about $150.00 a night. Oh and while you're there make a few offers on some homes. You'll get a lot of value.
Las Vegas is not healthy right now.

Go see The Blue Man Group. One of the most entertaining shows I've ever seen!

I've always said that if you can't find a way to have fun in Vegas, then you don't know how to have fun. There is so much to do outside of gambling and porn (? - nevermind, I'm not gonna ask).
Anywho, I second the suggestion for "O" by Cirque. I was skeptical, but really ended up enjoying it. There is also a service called Last Minute Tickets or similar. You can get discount tickets on the same day as the shows - but not Cirque shows. You call each morning at 10am and it will tell you which shows that have tickets for that night. You can save quite a bit of cash that way.
If you've never been to Vegas before, simply walking around and checking out the different hotels is entertainment in itself. Check out Caesar's, Bellagio, the Venetian, Wynn, etc, etc. The first time I went, I spent three days just being overwhelmed with how much there was to see. Shopping is plentiful, spas are good, there are tons of restaurants to choose from. Park yourself at the coffee cafe in Paris and people watch for a while - it's highly entertaining. Throw $20 in a slot machine and see what happens.

One thing I can say is use vallet parking from one hotel to another.A small tip to the guy and it saves a lot of walking if your older. and its a time saver as well, can see more in less time

I second Promoguy on hotel deals. Las Vegas is down in business by 40% or more. Make a deal is the name of the game. There are some resorts that are offering buy one night, get one for $1.00. If you're not staying on base or with friends, check out the incredible deals at the resorts.
Red Rock is another great resort near The Lakes and off the strip.
Actually, "The Strip", is a very small land marking in the very big city of Las Vegas and surrounding communities of that area. Rent a vehicle and explore, there is much more to see.

I agree with "O" and the other Bellagio suggestions, the Hoover Dam is amazing, and Red Rock Canyon is wonderful to hike or just take the scenic drive through; it is really close to Vegas. Enjoy!
