family transport question

Now that we're about six weeks from departure, I have to make a decision. A couple of months back I asked about private taxi and ferries to get my husband and I, the grandparents, our daughter and son-in-law and their 1 and 2 year old from the airport to St John. They will have flown all night from Seattle and met us in Boston for the flight down. I do think the private taxi is the way to go but I can't decide on the ferry. We get in at 2pm and can potetially make the CA 3pm ferry if its running, otherwise the 4pm from Red Hook. I also wonder if taking a private ferry from Crown Bay is better than from Red Hook. I know its more expensive but a longer ferry ride might be better than a taxi ride. What would you suggest?

All the downtown ferries were running last week, so the 3 p.m. will probably be available, although anything can happen, so always ask.
I prefer the longer ferry ride myself. With that many people, I'd just get a private water taxi instead of a ferry though. It can be tricky getting all the people and luggage coordinated on the public ferry.

Agreed. I'd spring for the private water taxi from Red Hook. Makes much more sense with that crew and they will work with your arrival time.

Private taxi to the private water taxi is the way to go with a group like that. Get ahold of Dohm's and Christopher and you're all set.

The last I knew, Dohm's only went out of the NP dock at Red Hook, something about homeland security issues. Still the preferable way to go, considering the group and the travel day, with a group.

Thanks for the positive advice. I was leaning that way and will call Dohm's today.
