Calabash Boom is just before Miss Lucy's and currently they are building the "affordable housing developement" there - I would ask about noise

Calabash Boom is near Miss Lucy's @ halfway out to Salt Pond Bay.
Hubby and I stayed on the Boom in Sago Cottage and LOVED it. The view is amazing, the tradewinds kept most of the bugs away and it actually got cool enough at night to use the hottub and enjoy it.
According to Sago's manager, construction noise has not been a problem. But, Sago is, like, 4 switchbacks up so it's pretty far up.
The drive up the Boom has a lot of STJ charm i.e. it's bumpy, dirt, many switchbacks and kinda scary at first. After your first night drive down, though, it's no problem.

We've stayed on Calabash several times and love it. The breezes and the views cannot be beat! It definately cools down enough to take advantage of the hot tub, which is a great way to end the evening. The sunrise comes early and although you can hear the construction noise, because of the early sunrise you will probably already be up and about. It ends by about 3 in the afternoon. For us it wasn't a big deal and we were pretty far up - past Sago Cottage. We will also be staying at Fair Winds in February 09. Can't wait!

I hope you will post a report after your trip. I will be very curious to hear what you think about Fair Winds. We are seriously considering renting it. Our stay will be in July, however.

I will definately post a review. We will be there the last week in February, first week of March. It looks like a great place (not that we spend a lot of time in our villa). It's got everything we were looking for in kind of a funky way. I do have to note the drive of Calabash does take a little getting used to, but the views are very typically worth the ride.

We usually are in the budget market for our villa....we just want to be there and have a decent place to stay. We do spend most of our time on the beach but it's nice to have something fun to come back to. This place looks like a good deal for the money. The road does sound like a bit of a challenge but I was told that it is usually in good shape.I know you're counting the days until your trip!!
