I am always lurking here but a seldom poster anymore. Haven't been back to Paradise since 06. But when we came back from our trip that year I wrote a short report and mentioned I had forgot the spices I bought at Ruth's in the closet of our villa. Tonight I was getting out our luggage for a New England road trip this weekend, and lo & behold I open a side pocket and there they are. They are 2 years old but still smell pretty good. LOL!! Life is weird ain't it?

Great story! Here's a similarly cool one:

Back in the sixties when my aunt got married, she and my uncle toured Europe. He bought her an extremely thick gold link bracelet, then bought and added a charm for it in each 'port.' The charms were unlike regular charms but big and thick and substantial, like nuggets of gold. One was a reproduction of the little mermaid in Copenhagen, another was a charging Spanish bull...

When they returned home from their honeymoon, she realized she had somehow lost it. She was distraught for months, but secretly, my uncle wrote to all the jewelers they had visited and managed to reproduce the bracelet with its five fat charms in time for their anniversary.

I was little at the time, and I was captivated by the fact that my uncle had done that. I thought there was nothing more beautiful in the world than that bracelet with its mermaid.

Fast forward seven or eight years later. One day my aunt is packing for a trip and hears a subtle jangling in the lining of the suitcase. The original bracelet. And lucky me, when I became an adult, I became the recipient of that lovely and romantic copy.

It mainly hangs out in a safety deposit box these days, but I still love to look at it and touch that exquisite little mermaid.

My father lost his grandfather's pocket watch years ago. Then one day we were moving an old couch out of the living room. For some reason it got lifted up and put on its end and there was a kurplunk! Yep.. it was the pocket watch. Must have fallen out of my father's pocket when he was sleeping on the couch one day.

Also my uncle lost a signet ring that was his father's. Same initials. About 8 years later he was raking in his yard and saw something glisten in the leaves. He sifted through and there was the ring.

Yes CG there was Cruz Bay Grill Rub and a pack of Salsa Picante. I can;t wait to get back and try them.

Great story Eric and Mary Beth is right - that salsa picante makes a great dip that is EASY to make!
