But is it the " Beach Bar" as in STJ or a beach bar. There are lots of the latter in VI's

I tended in two bars while in college and what an experience!

Both were locally/family owned (meaning not a chain like a TGIF or a big night club) and super busy like the Beach Bar. I got to see all sides of human nature and learned time management, human managment, drunk management and neogiation skills.

I say go for it! It will be a learning experience.

Years later when I was in banking, my boss was all hot to chase down a certain business man, lets call him Mr. R, and asked me if I knew anything about him in the way of research for the customer call.

I thought to myself, Mr. Two pitch-drinker and a six-er of Coors Light to go for lunch guy?

Yeah I said, I knew Mr. R pretty well a few years ago.

Seriously, I think everyone should do a stint as a waitress and/or bartender once is life. It opens one's eyes.

Be aware that the advertiser may be using 'beach bar' in a generic sense -- It may not be the Cruz Bay bar known as the Beach Bar - of course it may well be!
However working at a busy bar is definitely a 'real job' - you might be surprised at the amount of work involved.

Not to be simple, but if it's a "beach bar" on STJ, what difference does it make whether it's "The Beach Bar"? Any job on STJ is better than no job on STJ, right? 8)

Ah, but will it pay your rent and other expenses? It's not cheap living here, so you need to plan very carefully. You'll probably need a roommate to help with expenses.

Maybe I worded my post badly...I'm not seriously going there right now. (the future, we'll see. my best friend and i are still discussing it.) I just saw that and thought "heck...wouldn't that be fun!" I'm still in college, graduate in May! :P

I've worked in the restaurant business since I was 14 so I def. know it's a "real job". started waitressing as soon as i turned 17 in BUSY restaurants and bars. I didn't mean to make it sound like it's not a REAL job (I apologize if I offended anyone....). it's a HARD job!!!!!!!! and I agree-people should work in the restaurant business at least once. it's an amazing experience and teaches you a lot about yourself and people in general. I love it actually.

PA Girl--what a great story!! I've had situations like that as well.......you see a whole different light to people when you're working in a restaurant. :)

Having now looked at the Craigs List listing, it doesn't even say it is in or on STJ only that it is in the USVI, so it could be on STX or STT as well.
