This was the first year we'd rented a place with a pool, and honestly, up until Wednesday we hadn't put our toes in the sand. Neither of us snorkels (more on that later), and so primarily we'd hang out on the beach for the sun/relaxation and surprising privacy that many of the beaches have. With our own pool and amazing vista we found that we had most everything right at the house that we wanted.

But, Wednesday we decided to hit all the favorite beaches. First went to Caneel to walk to Honeymoon. Having gone to Honeymoon before from the trail by the Lind Point Overlook we'd later discovered from this forum that there was a MUCH easier way to get there. We'd never been into Caneel before anyway, so gave it a whirl and parked in their lot. The trail is very easy to get to and very level-especially compared to the Lind Point access path.

From there we went on to Cinnamon-not really a beach we'd ever stopped at before. There we saw a mother donkey and baby (boy are those guys cute and fuzzy!) and lots of land crabs-big ones too it seemed. Mike and I discussed the financial benefits of staying at one of the cottages there, but he was wise to point out that "The Princess" (meaning me) would not take well to sharing bathrooms and cold water showers. After 20+ years he knows his wife well!

We stopped at every pull off for pictures. When I got home I realized how many pictures I have over the years of the same thing, but I'm sure I'll never stop taking them! :)

Probably our favorite beach is Maho, with Francis coming in a close second. I love Maho for being able to just pull off the road and you're there. It is paradise for us! 8)

Went to Vie's for lunch. Her garlic chicken has no rival in my book. I'm pretty partial to the coconut tart too. As we drove out there, once you're past Coral Bay, the road just seems to get narrower and narrower as the vegetation overtakes it. It probably wouldn't take long to disappear completely.

A stop at the Love City store for a few items then back via the Bordeaux Mountain overlook for more photos. Picked up dinner at the China Shack in the Marketplace.

Considering how small STJ is, it takes all day just to get from one side to the other and back again (leisurely of course). There's still things we haven't been to see yet-hey, that sounds like a good reason to go again!
