As many know we cancelled our november trip due to baby issues. Now we are looking at returning next November/December.

As we will we travelling with Gramma and 2 kids this time we are looking for 3 bedrooms and would like two with close proximity to one another (parents and kids).

Is anyone familiar enough with the layout of these houses to rule in or out? Or another Destination St. John house for that matter.

We'd definitely like a/c in the bedrooms and a pool as well.

We are renting Cara Mia in April. The main house has one bedroom and the other 2 are in a seperate building, upstairs and downstairs, I believe with seperate entrances. Beautiful house but probably not perfect for what you need.

flip-flop,

we have had good experiences with destination sj too. just got back from a stay at treasure ridge that would work for you. there are 2 bedrooms across entrance foyer from each other and that's only access. 3rd bedroom is smaller and on lower level (pool) but is adequate and has own tv (query geataway for grandmommy?).

see my trip report on this board posted earlier this week (trip report 12/10 to 12/16). great villa and one of negatives of construction next door should not be an issue next fall.

last 200 yards of rockridge rd is frighting ist couple of trips but really not bad once you get used to. did it in camry in spring 05 but admittedly much easier this past week in a jeep liberty.

be glad to answer any specific questions.

flip,

when i posted last message i forgot to mention that i don't think calicaribe has ac in bedrooms. des stj web site doesn't mention and plays up "cool breezes". while i would have been comfortable last week at treas rd w/o ac in bedroom, the bride ain't about to sleep in a room without ac. is it normal for a 63 yr old woman to have hot flashes?

flipflop, we just went through the small-kid-friendly exercise. The only way we got good info on internal hallways/staircases, pool security, kid-safe railing was talking to the rental agents. Especially for Destination St. John; there web site is sparse on data. Something I don't like around young kids: spiral staircases.

La Papaya has potential. 5-bedroom, but discounted for smaller groups.

We just rented Cocotier from Destination STJ and had a good experience. Their villas seem to be newer/bigger.

We'll be down for Halloween with the adult party group, NC-17.

Cheers, RickG

I got what I felt was very good information from both Destination St. John and Vacation Vistas when I inquired about renting a toddler-friendly house. Both agencies really understood the needs of a family with young children.

We rented from Vacation Vistas for Feb 2007. I will post a review of the house from a parent's point of view when we return.

We worked with Lisa at Vacation Vistas when choosing Ristaba with kids all under 6. She was great with all of our needs and questions. Even recommended the best restaurants for the kids and the kids seemed to agree with her :D
