So, I hear there is a tropical storm cooking up in the Atlantic. I needed something new to panic about. I have tried to look at these weather sites y'all recommend, but I am really stupid about the weather and don't get any of it. Anyone know anything about this? How's the weather now? Is it looking good for next week? Does Ruth sell playing cards just in case?

yes she does. I can cofirm! and they have nice tropical cocktail recipes on them
got mine in preparation for a Looooooooong airport delay!

I know that it'll be great regardless of the weather (although I really need to get a tan!), but I mostly just need to make sure the weather will be good enough for me to get there!

Paloma is forecast to become a hurricane and head towards Cuba. Bad for those poor folks as they have been battered this season. It should pose no threat to the USVI.

Forecast track shows Paloma will stay well west of the VI's and eastern Caribbean, affecting Cuba and the Bahamas.

Bad for Cubans, but good for Lulu!

I am a little worried about the chances of rain forecasted for next week. High percentages. I am rethinking November trips.

Anyone got a skeeter report?

The Cayman Islands are in the projected path. Cayman Brac and Little Cayman took a good whack from Hurricane Gustov, too.

Is late November still hurricane month? I would think this is late in the season for any of this. of course I'm usually wrong.

Technically it is, but there are usually very few late-season hurricanes.

Close - but its technically Nov. 30th. I definitely think this one will NOT become another OMAR situation - its staying far north.

All good answers. I just saw the words "tropical storm" and "Caribbean" and figured a) I needed something to worry about and b) that would make this day suck even worse than it already does. It did not help that weather maps might as well be a child's scribbles to me -- I can't make heads or tails of them.

Good weather would be some well-deserved good news.

Lulu, I've been obsessing about this all week as well... check out wunderground.com -- put in 00831 and then click on "scientific forecaster discussion" at the bottom. It actually says it's going to be fairly dry for the next seven days. Then do what I do -- stop checking the weather once you get the forecast you want to hear!
