On our upcoming trip to SJ the wife really wants to see a turtle. Which snorkel spot should we try to see these beauties of the ocean?
Thanks
Mark

Leinster Bay or Salt Pond Bay early. We also have good luck on Francis Bay when we swim down the buoy line; there's a big honker that hangs out there that we nicknamed VW because he looks as big as a VW Beetle.

I second Leinster Bay...Right off the beach, no need to snorkel out to Waterlemon (but that is great too!). We snorkel there on every trip, and have never failed to see multiple turtles. Although, most of them I would say are on the smallish side - have never seen any of the larger one's Rick often talks about (would like to though!).

I've always seen them around Waterlemon Cay (off Leinster). Spend enough time in the water and you'll probably find one. Also, listen for other snorkelers in the water, as people tend to alert their entire traveling party when they find a turtle or a ray.
"TURTLE!"

There are HUGE turtles right where Rick mentions at Francis, but often the visibility is not the best there.
Salt Pond is a good bet, and Waterlemon. Can you believe that I have only seen one turtle at Maho? I must not be checking the right places.
If you are staying at Caneel, there are loads of turtles at Scott Beach. You can just sit on the beach and look for their heads to pop up--they come in really close to the beach. We have video of three of them swimming together from our last stay.

We saw 3 turtles off the sandy beach area at Waterlemon Cay week before last. There were more out there, but 3 was enough!

Didn't see any at Francis or Maho.
