We are thinking about our return trip to St John and hubby is interested in a villa on Cruz Bay side of island that has bedrooms off the living area.
Either two or three bedrooms. We maybe taking our elderly parents and this is a issue with them.
Has anyone taken parents, who at 72 are frightened they are to old to take a trip like this?
We live in Washington State and am not sure if this is the reason.
Thanks for any help!

How much money are you looking to spend? That always helps when recommending a villa.
Hale Lani, has two nice-sized bedrooms upstairs off the living area -- not more than a couple of steps from the car, but the third and fourth bedrooms are downstairs (and smaller).

We stayed at Villa Soleil. It is just past the Gallows. It is thru St. John Properties.
It has two equal bedrooms, one off each side of the livingroom/kitchen area. Both have there own bath.
It has a great covered deck that overlooks the shared pool. The covered deck was great for sitting out in the afternoon as you are sheltered so it is not hot.

We recently stayed at Star Villa. It is a 2 BR 2 BA (bedrooms have a/c) with everything on one level. Nice pool and nice screened in porch. Very large deck area with plenty of nice loungers and a hammock. It is extremely convenient to Cruz Bay. Not luxury, but quite nice for the price! The beds are kind of low to the ground. I don't know if that may be an issue for the 70+ couple.

Hawksbill is about 1 minute further from town than the Westin and has two pretty equal bedrooms (both have bathrooms attached) and two decent sized sitting areas inside...basically a family room and a living room, plus a dining room and kitchen...all on the same level as the pool, and the walk to from the driveway into the house is pretty flat, no stairs (maybe 1 stair if any).

Many folks your parents age vacation in the USVI, and when we have stayed at or visited Caneel, many of the folks are your parents' age, particularly in the winter months. We were married on St John and had 3 seniors about 70 years old who made the trip and stayed in two different villas. Two of the folks experienced no difficulty but my husband's uncle became naseous when he was in the jeep riding from a villa in Peter Bay, through town and then up to Catherineberg. It happened another time when they went into town to eat. We thought we we being thoughtful by having someone drive him around but when he actually drove himself one day, he suffered no nasuea. Go figure. Maybe riding in the back seat caused the problem.
I was thinking of a house available through both CateredTo and CaribbeanVillas called Kalalloo, the 3BR villa on the northshore road just past Caneel, that might work for you and your parents. Covered porch, beautiful view, convenient to both town and the beaches. No long drives anywhere.
It gets great reviews and is reasonably priced for amenities and location.Dont think it has AC.
Another recommendation would be Spellbound through CateredTo. The LR, King Master BR and pool are all on the same level as the parking area, and the entry to the pool has a nice handrail. There is one A/C bedroom but it is down a few steps on the lower level.

The bedrooms both have a/c.
Hawksbill isn't a luxury villa but it's fairly decent and certainly does the job.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
