Last night I attempted to take pics w/ my digital camera of a 1968 issue of National Geographic.Do any of you see a problem with posting 40 year old copyright pics? I would like to share them with the forum but don't want to be strung up for doing so.

Also I would like to know when the Tektite project took place.I thought it was 1969? I'm asking because there's a picture of a General Motors funded underwater project that was taken in December of '67 and published in January '68 in the National Geographic. It claimed that the underwater site was off of S.T.T. I wonder if this is indeed The Tektite project?? The pic was taken underwater in some type of cage with a guy dressed in suba gear.Thank for any help.Parafins

1969 it is....acccording to wikipedia...
copyright is sort of unclear..i think it depends on the type of work (and when it was published) it appears that things are a bit more straightforward for thigns after january of 1978, but for stuff before that....??? sorry not to be more help.

I would think that simply posting them on the forum would be ok. I would think it comes under 'fair use'. It's not like your selling them.

I would LOVE to see the pictures. My oceanography class from St. Croix took a field trip over to St. John to observe Tektite. Fun for us teenagers! This was in Oct 1970 so it was still going on then.

It has been more than 10 years since my last media law class, but I do believe you'd be OK under fair use. You just need to give proper credit to the publication. There's not really anyway for you to make money off them.

You can use this scale to see about public domain or not. It's pretty cool.

I'd like to see the pictures. Please post. If you're caught and there's a trial, we'll all testify as character witnesses for the defense.

That's pretty funny pjayer! If I was found guilty maybe I could spend the rest of my life on S.T.J.-how about the Westin?Pool boy would be nice!

Thanks all I'll work on the project over the weekend!Parafins
