I haven't read that link yet, but I know Mexico is not a safe place right now. That's one reason I jumped at this fam trip, because it will be hosted and run by locals. Gizzmo here on the forum has reported some bad stuff from his visit there. I really want to drive down to shop in Tijuana (an hr. from where I live), but you just can't do it now. It bums me out. :(

Something to think about Bill. I'll let you know what I see and hear down there.

P-600 - thanks for the enlightening link!

I do have one question though, what caused your friends' son to drown? I read the article twice and couldn't figure out how he drowned.

It was so sad to read his story as well as the other stories that were posted on that site.

I can't believe the lack of help any of them received in those emergency situations. Help in most of the cases would probably have saved their lives.

Hi Nothingtolose,
My daughter was told that he drowned. The employees of the resort didn't know CPR and they did not get him the help he needed quickly enough.

Wow, this is scary stuff! I have to admit, I will never go to Mexico again. My husband and I (boyfriend at the time), stayed at the OASIS hotel in Cancun in April 1993 (we were there when Kurt Cobain died). While we were at the pool, we safely locked all our valuables, cash, etc. in our room safe. Well, my hubby went back to get something and bam, they pried it off the wall. They went in thru our sliding glass door, put it in my luggage, ate a pear before they left and that was it. We knew it was an inside job but there was nothing we could do. It was day 2 of our vacation. We got to see parts of Mexico you would never want to see (the police station). It was miserable. Yes, I know, I shouldn't let one bad experience spoil a country but there are so many other wonderful places to go in this world, I choose not to go there. I go to St. John instead :)
