Okay, we have established that there are a lot of liberals on the board. Oh, and that all of you are disgusted even at the sight of Sarah Palin. We got that.
Now, can any of you Obama supporters please give me five (5) concrete accomplishments from his past that make him qualified to lead this country forward?
Words that you cannot use:
Change

Dubya

1. Graduate of Columbia Univeristy with a degree in Political Science, specializing in International Relations. His thesis was on Soviet nuclear (pronounced new-clear) disarmament.
2. Graduate of Harvard Law School Magna cum Laude.
3. Instructor in Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago Law School one of the premier law schools in the country.
4. Served 8 years in the Illinois Senate including serving as Chair of the Health and Human Services Committee,
5. Has served 3+ years in the United States Senate where he has served on the Foreign Relations committee, serving as Chair of the Subcommittee on European Affairs; served on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, the Veteran's Affairs Committee znd the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.
While those accomplishments may not satisfy some Republicans, particularly those on the Right, they certainly provide adequate evidence of accomplishments greater than some Presidents of this Country, both Democratic and Republican alike.
PS-I don't consider myself Liberal. I'm Moderate. In my opinion this election will not be decided by Liberals or Conservatives on each end of the spectrum, but the large amount of Moderates in the middle.

COPIED FROM wikipedia.org/wiki/obama
Just a few here...
Oh and he was the 1st African American president of Harvard Law Review.
Obama voted in favor of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and cosponsored the Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act.[58] In September 2006, Obama supported a related bill, the Secure Fence Act.[59] Obama introduced two initiatives bearing his name: Lugar–Obama, which expanded the Nunn–Lugar cooperative threat reduction concept to conventional weapons,[60] and the Coburn–Obama Transparency Act, which authorized the establishment of USAspending.gov, a web search engine on federal spending.[61] On June 3, 2008, Senator Obama, along with Senators Thomas R. Carper, Tom Coburn, and John McCain, introduced follow-up legislation: Strengthening Transparency and Accountability in Federal Spending Act of 2008.[62]
Obama sponsored legislation requiring nuclear plant owners to notify state and local authorities of radioactive leaks.[63] In December 2006, President Bush signed into law the Democratic Republic of the Congo Relief, Security, and Democracy Promotion Act, marking the first federal legislation to be enacted with Obama as its primary sponsor.[64] In January 2007, Obama and Senator Feingold introduced a corporate jet provision to the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act, which was signed into law in September 2007.[65] He introduced Deceptive Practices and Voter Intimidation Prevention Act, a bill to criminalize deceptive practices in federal elections.[66] Obama also introduced the Iraq War De-Escalation Act of 2007.[67]
Obama and Richard Lugar visit a Russian mobile launch missile dismantling facility[68]Later in 2007, Obama sponsored an amendment to the Defense Authorization Act adding safeguards for personality disorder military discharges.[69] He sponsored the Iran Sanctions Enabling Act supporting divestment of state pension funds from Iran's oil and gas industry, and co-sponsored legislation to reduce risks of nuclear terrorism.[70][71] Obama also sponsored a Senate amendment to the State Children's Health Insurance Program providing one year of job protection for family members caring for soldiers with combat-related injuries.[72
Oh and soxfan I am NOT disgusted with Palin; I just think she is NOT qualified for the position.

My position exactly. In fact I'm sure she makes a great Governor of Alaska, but that and her former Mayorship hardly qualify her to serve as VP of a world superpower.

Many folks have the same credantials. Here's a blurb about those days from the WSJ:
Fox News contacted some 400 of his classmates and found no one who remembered him. He had transferred from Occidental College in California after his sophomore year because, he told the Boston Globe in 1990, "I was concerned with urban issues and I wanted to be around more black folks in big cities." He got a degree in political science without honors. "For about two years there, I was just painfully alone and really not focused on anything, except maybe thinking a lot," he told his biographer David Mendell.
Put that way, his time at Columbia sounds unremarkable. Maybe that's what most pains a young memoirist and an ambitious politician who strains to make his life anything but unremarkable.
bayer40601 wrote:2. Graduate of Harvard Law School Magna cum Laude.
Again, there are many.
bayer40601 wrote:3. Instructor in Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago Law School one of the premier law schools in the country.
Again, dime a dozen. Well, that may be strong, but certainly that does not qualify you to be President.
bayer40601 wrote:4. Served 8 years in the Illinois Senate including serving as Chair of the Health and Human Services Committee.
Again, what did he accomplish there? Other than, of course,
supporting infanticide.

Chris Dodd chairs the Senate Banking Committee. These days, I wouldn't allow him near my son's piggy bank.
And, unless those are committee's of one (which in Obama's world would suffice), I'm thinking there are others serving among him who have great academic backgrounds?
3+ years in the Senate. At least two of them spent running for president.
So, you value academia. Has he ever hired and fired? Has he ever made a payroll? Has he ever created a job?
Oh and you mentioned something about a resolution for ending the war in Iraq in 2007...How did that work out? John McCain advocated The Surge, and Iraq is now a different story.
And Obama still can't say the Surge has worked.

OK, soxfan, how many people do you know of who have those exact same credentials? We know that many may share some of those credentials, but very few, if any, possess all 5 of them. Besides, you asked for someone to name five. I named those 5. I'm sure there will be others.

You must have me confused with someone else. I don't think I made any such comment on this thread or the other one.

You can't tell me what I can't say. Sarah tried that the other night when she said she wasn't going to talk about the past. The past matters, except when it hurts your case, right Sox? Then you want to ignore it and pretend it didn't happen.
Your president has screwed this country and McCain has sided with him throughout. Now, you and Sarah say we can't bring that up? Are you nuts?
I am for Obama because he is not McCain. I don't need 5 reasons. That one, alone, does it for me.

Well said. My point also. Can't go through anymore years of the last 8. It's just not a good football game call. Get rid of the coach!

At the end of the day, you guys have given me his academic background, and a couple of crappy years in the Senate. Not good enough for me.
OK, soxfan, how many people do you know of who have those exact same credentials?
Well, none. And that is the point Sarah Palin drives home. You see, I don't know anybody like that because I am average, everyday America. And though you will never admit it, it is the reason Palin connects with everyday America.
You know what's funny about academia? Its the fact that their prices have increased arguably more than any other in the past 25 years, yet we never hear democrats talking about windfall profits when it comes to our liberal institutions.
Barack Obama talks about "how am I going to send my kids to college..." everyday on the stump...But what does he propose? Not reinging in the actual ridiculous COST of a 4 year degree...Nope, more government programs.
How is that not more of the same?
You know the answer, but you won't admit it.
So I'll answer for you...The Democratic Party is in bed with academia, and vice-versa. Kill big oil - while continuing to allow the endowments of these schools grow out of countrol on our backs.

So, am I to take from that comment this Country should elect you and Gov. Palin as President and VP? If so, I assume this means you have serious problems with Sen. McCain as well.
PS-While you may know otherwise, I don't know of any college or university who has a windfall profit. Most of those extra costs at colleges and universities go for the same types of things you and I pay for everyday except on a larger scale.

No one is an average American. We are all Americans, period. My point with Sara is that she is in over her head. She is not a good choice for V/P or President. Foreign affairs are needed in our interest right now. I don't see Sara being able to help us with that aspect. If Obama wins, I hope he'll make Hillary Sec'y of State! JMO.
Keep the riff-raff going...I'm out of here on business for a week. Keep the luv goin'

Harvard has an endowment of $34 billion.
http://www.boston.com/news/local/articl ... 4_billion/
Also, I found this blurb interesting...From the same piece written only in January, 2008:
She credited a strong stock market for fueling the endowment increases, pointing out that the S&P 500 index rose by more than 20 percent over the past fiscal year, which ended last June.
Funny - I thought the economy has been in the tank for 8 years?

No, I have given you the fact that he is not Bush/McCain. That's all that matters. You guys have screwed the pooch and are about to get kicked out as a result.
