<b>Nursery Sale with Orchid Society, St. Croix</b>
On Sunday, October 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the St. George Village Botanical Garden's nursery will be offering a selection of trees, shrubs and plants for a grand blowout sale at $5 or less per plant. <b>Grow and Learn, St. Croix</b>
Part of the St. George Village Botanical Gardens' series of hands-on workshops, this month's event will be held on Wednesday, October 8 in the Pavilion at the Bodine's Visitors Center from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Past workshops include learning how to make edible garnishes out of fruits and vegetables and making tequila from agave. <b>2nd Annual Virgin Islands Fashion Week, St. Thomas</b>
From Thursday, October 9 through Monday, October 13, the Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort and Spa will host this five-day, multi-cultural event featuring 20 new and established designers from across the Caribbean, the United States and Africa. Designers will be presenting their latest fashion collections ranging from street chic to couture at the signature Caribbean Catwalk Runway Show. <b>USVI-Puerto Rico Friendship Day, St. Croix</b>
Celebrate the 44th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month and Virgin Islands-Puerto Rico Friendship Day during a four-day festival (October 10 to 13) on St. Croix featuring Hispanic and USVI culture, music, dance, crafts and foods. <b>Making and Using Natural Dyes, St. Croix</b>
On October 11 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Bodine Visitors' Center at the St. George Village Botanical Garden, parents and their children are invited to visit the fiber and dye garden, learn about common plants that provide natural dyes, chose some plants and plant parts to experiment with, then try their hands at dying cloth with natural dyes made from plants. Reservations are essential as the number of participants is limited; call (340) 692-2874 to sign up. There is a $5 per person fee for the workshop. <b>Pumpkin Cup Golf Tournament, St. Thomas</b>
The 9th Annual Pumpkin Cup Golf Tournament will tee-off at 9 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, at Mahogany Run Golf Course in St. Thomas. Sponsored by the USVI Hotel & Tourism Association and the St. Thomas/St. John Ladies Golf Association, the tournament supports special programming for female golfers and funds clinics that teach young women this popular sport. <b>No Fleas, Please Island Flea Market, St. John</b>
On October 18 and 19 the Animal Care Center of St. John (ACC) will host a fundraiser flea market at the ball field next to Sprauve School in Cruz Bay. This is expected to be a huge event that will be fun for visitors and residents alike. The event will take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday and between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday. <b>13th Annual St. Croix Coral Reef Swim, St. Croix</b>
Swimmers who travel and travelers who swim can reserve their spot now for one of America's most successful swim competitions, the St. Croix Coral Reef Swim, celebrating its 13th annual swim on Sunday, October 19. <b>Gardens By Moonlight at St. George Village Botanical Garden, St. Croix</b>
On Tuesday, October 14 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., take a romantic stroll through these lovely gardens by the light of flickering torches and the silvery moon. The guided tour will focus on flowers that blossom during the evening. Afterward, enjoy a casual wine and cheese reception. The cost is $20 for members and $35 for non-members. <b>Blue Bay Jazz Fest, St. Croix</b>
Specific to the island of St. Croix, the Blue Bay Jazz Fest, taking place between November 19 and November 23 in the downtown Frederiksted district, will feature performances by local Crucians, as well as nationally-acclaimed musicians, including Pete Escovedo and Tito Puente, Jr. In addition to music, the festival will feature cuisine by local Caribbean vendors, arts and crafts activities, street entertainment and mocko jumbie dancers.
