My oldest son Nathan (26yrs. old) just had me go with him to the local jewelry store for my opinion on an engagement ring for Juli!!! FINALLY!!! They have only been together for 6yrs. now, & have been living together for 5 of those yrs.
He was real jealous that we took the girls down couple weeks ago now, so he figured this was his guarantee that he would get his trip in.
First he had to get her a ring, then pay us what he owes us, THEN we will take them to the Carribean to get hitched on the beach.I already have their flip-flops! (when they walk on the beach, they leave an impression 'Just Married' on the sand)
So....guess I'll be shopping for a air tickets again & I think we will just do a Villa on St. John. We didn't get a lasting impression this time on St. Thomas...got way to crowded for us since we were there 2yrs. ago.

Very cool, flip-flops that leave “Just Married” in the sands. What a neat idea. Keep us posted.

We have friends getting married this April on STJ, where did you find the flip flops? Would be a cute gift. Thanks Laurie

Hey Laurie....I saw them in a magazine, then actually found them at a store where they sell Halloween costumes called 'Bartz's'. Real cheap too...like $10 for the pair!
Try....abbeypress.com....or terrysvillage.com...or besttoyou.com...Good luck!
next trip

So you got hooked on STJ too!
I researched extensively when we were planning the trip to the USVI. We were going to go to STT. We thought that we wanted an all-inclusive. My husband was scared of villas. I went to the vinow board and with extensive research decided on Gallows Point on STJ. I am so glad we did that!
If you read the travel magazines you may think that STJ is only camping and villas and that it is really undeveloped. I am glad it is this way so STJ doesn't get too spoiled by tourists.
What a great thing to plan-- a wedding on STJ. I hope that one of my children wants to do that too.
I hope to get them hooked in June.
Happy Planning!

WEll....the ~proposal~ went welllast night. He took her on a Winter Carrige ride thru town & convinced her that they will be married where it's much warmer!!
The city had a bottle of Champagne with their names on & the engagement date & flowers & a photographer ready when they got off to help celebrate with them! What a night! then we took them out for dinner.
Doesn't get any better than that.....well not until St. John next year anyways!!

Sounds so romantic. Nice of the city to do the champagne, etc. Was it a package that you had to buy or something like that? Why was the city involved? I wonder if my city does stuff like that, I'll have to ask.

Coden...no package & it was even F R E E!!!
The city had some sort of shopping night planned for the Christmas shoppers & included free horse drawn carrige ride thru the park. Nathan just ~used~ the event to get his proposal in! the city thiugth it was way cool & just went with it by adding their own persoanl touches on it. They wanted to put the picture in the local paper then to show what a success their shopping night was!
Way Cool!!
The owner of the resteraunt even popped for drinks when they came in to eat with us!! I had told every one in the bar while we were waiting for them about the proposal, & didn't know the lady was the owner!
