Funny how STJ people can find each other anywhere....

While tailgating with the Vol Navy on Saturday, this Florida fan was on the next boat. He & his wife have the STJ bug and go about twice a year. He's not a forum member....yet....but I talked it up really good so maybe he'll check it out one day! Anyway, it was fun meeting a stranger that was as island obsessed as I am. He even had his Woody's koozie. And you can see my best attempt at UT orange was my Coral Bay shirt. Hey, I'm not so much a football fan, it was the best I could do.....

Oh, yeah, and at least ONE positive experience came out of Saturday...because the game pretty well sucked.

A few weeks ago, my husband & I were at our local watering hole, where we know most of the people that frequent this bar. In walks a few strangers wearing, what else? Skinnys T Shirts! Instant new best friends - although I can not remember their names! Does not happen too often, but when it does it's really fun!

I see St. John shirts quite often around Atlanta. Our favorite island used to be St. Martin (now replaced by St. John), but I almost never see people in the South sporting SXM shirts. I think SXM appeals more to people from the NE for some reason. When I go to St. John, it's strange how many Southern accents I hear.
When I sent in our villa deposit a few months ago, I went by the post office to drop it off. When I came out, an SUV had parked beside my car. It had a STJ sticker on it. I considered that a good omen.

So true........when I first moved to St. John in 2003, I was really surprised how many people from TN and TX and so much of the south.
My fav person was this woman who had never seen the ocean and was from CO and for her 30th bday her hubby brought her to STJ......
Living here in FL I see alot of people who comment on my liscense plate holder that we sell here.
Most people from FL I noticed seem to go to the Bahamas.....

I'm beginning to think I'm the only one in my town that has been bitten by the STJ bug. I've yet to meet anyone who has even been there. When I tell people where I go on vacation I always have to explain where it is at.
Oh well, I always have my forum friends to talk to.

We were at The Big E yesterday (for non-New Englanders, it is a GIANT fair), in Springfield, MA. My father in-law was wearing his Trunk Bay tee shirt, with "The Photo" on the front. Some guy came up and said, "St. John!!!". We talked for a bit, and he told us he and his wife had been going for 12 years. They stay at Cinnamon Bay Campground every year.

Cute stories! I have a recent one - I was at my local Sam's Club with a large amount of items, I see this guy with two things and tell him he can go in front of me - but only because he had a St. John T-Shirt on! We ended up talking for a while and he actually had only been there with a cruise ship stop, but really loved it!

I used to work with a guy who grew up on St. Croix, and his stories are probably one of the reasons I ended up going to St. John.
A lot of people from Middle Tennessee seem to go down there. I always say something when I see someone in a STJ shirt.
My roommate is going on a cruise in December, and I already told her I'm going to tell her where to go when she makes her STJ stop!

In my very own kitchen this past Friday at the end of my kindergarten daughter's birthday party, one of the mothers saw the Cruz Bay webcam shot I keep in my browser and asked "Are you going to St John ?" She has been several times and recognized the dock immediately. Unfortunately I had to tell her that we have nothing planned at the moment; I am just an incurable junkie.

Does that mean you didn't book that spur-of-the-moment trip?

As of this very moment, yes it does

However the tickets are still available and I'm still leaning in that direction, so we'll see...

A little off-point, but I'm impressed that you can tailgate on a boat outside the stadium in Tennessee!

It is great, so much fun! I think I could almost be a UT fan. We will definitely be at the UK/UT game down there in November! Anyone else from the forum going to be there?

On Sunday at a party for a 6 year old, I met the former owners of Villa Panache (in-laws to my friend) and had another guest come up and say to me, "I hear you love St. John, I went once and stayed at the Westin, but want to rent a house next time...where should I stay?"
It is a small St. John lovin' world.
